Hello MO'ers! It's been awhile! All my fault! But I'm back again.
Live got very crazy the last 6 months work wise and well it was _VERY_ consuming. I work in tech startups and the one I was at was facing months of existential risk which ended up with the company getting cut in half and yours truly being one of the ones let go just a few weeks ago. Not a great way to lead into the holiday season especially since the company couldn't really afford any severance. So I'm scrambling to figure things out work wise and trying to see if myself and some others who were let go and can group together and boot strap something on our own. So as you can imagine trying to save the company and then getting let go were _NOT_ helpful at all to spending time here on MO. And for those wondering what's up with the rental list and updating that - well I've finally got some time and energy to revisit that and help here again. I'm still getting a steady stream of emails of individuals looking for points to rent and I know the Rental forum here is live and well. So I'm glad folks have places to go. In other family life things - my kids are a senior and junior in high school and my eldest (daughter aka Gwen) is the middle of figuring out college plans. She applied early decision to Hamilton College and is hoping to row and play ice hockey there. We find out Dec 15th whether she gets in or not. My son is starting to look at colleges and such when he's not working on his school's robotics team or lacrosse. And of course, Katie (the DW) is alive and well and keeping busy with her job managing a mental therapy practice as their office manager/practice admin.
We did manage to keep our fall trip to WDW and F&W making it down to FL for Veteran's day weekend. It ended up being just myself and the kids as Katie had her office annual retreat that weekend. The kids and I had a blast and managed to stay at SSR for the first time ever. The renovated rooms are very nice and being able to walk to Disney Springs was nice. The highlight was probably seeing Soarin over California during it's limited retro release! It definitely isn't as slick as Soarin' around the World but was a fun trip down memory lane. Oh and to anyone who says the parks aren't crowded right these days? HA! Boy was it packed! Hope all is well and look forward to spending more time again around here!

Good to see you back here! I am so sorry for all of the work woes though. Best of luck figuring all of that out. Also very good luck to your daughter as she goes through the college selection process.

Glad to see you back. I was just wondering where you have been. Best of luck to you as you rebuild. I always say things happen for a reason and something much better is in store for you around the corner.

Thanks! I'm not too worried - years of networking and such likely mean things will end ok. And as an example of opportunities - I now have time to finally work on the DVC rental list again

Welcome back. I also have a senior that just decided to attend the Colorado School of Mines next year. Now we just have to figure out how to pay for it!

Welcome back. I also have a senior that just decided to attend the Colorado School of Mines next year. Now we just have to figure out how to pay for it! Never heard of that school, so I had to look it up. Looks like a great campus....not too big, not too small.

Welcome back. I also have a senior that just decided to attend the Colorado School of Mines next year. Now we just have to figure out how to pay for it! Excellent school! Don't even get me started on the how to pay for it! We always hoped/assumed our kids would end up at either UWashington or WSU - this private school thing is expensive!
