Hey everyone. Wondering what my chances are at getting Monday - Wednesday at Aulani at 5 months out in a studio or hotel room category. Is that super high demand, or should it be doable? It's May 6th - 9th. We're already wait-listed. My wife will stalk the website as needed.
We got a deal for 5 nights in Oahu by agreeing to sit through Hilton's time-share pitch, but wanted to stay longer to justify the travel time from NY. Would love for the additional 3 nights to be at Aulani. We've been before (2 weeks ago, actually) and love Ko 'Olina. So that's all I got, just wanted to some insight from people who've been doing this longer than myself. I know there's no silver bullet here, just like to bounce the question off this helpful community.

We're going in late May for six nights; I can tell you our booking experience then say "YMMV."
On 10/30 I tried to book six nights, check in on 5/30 and check out on 6/5 (studio, ocean or island/garden view). Only our first two nights were available, ocean view. I booked them and wait listed for the additional four nights (6/1-6/4). Since we're allowed two wait lists, I did it for ocean and island/garden views. The wait list was fulfilled on 11/22.
The only suggestion I have is to stalk availability for individual nights and grab them as they become available. Oh, and if you haven't wait listed for two separate room categories, do that. Good luck.

I can't specifically answer your question other than to say that the lower point studio and the hotel room categories are almost always gone at 7 months (meaning they are wildly popular at all times of the year) while the other categories are available at most times of the year. Of course, it is always possible to get a hard-to-get room off the waitlist. Single-day waitlists are more likely to come through, but then you will be stuck trying to piece all 3 days together and you might not get all 3 days. Stalking is really your best option.

Stalking is really your best option. Ya know, there aren't many places on the internet where this is the right answer...
Cheers.

When I was stalking availability for the 4 nights we needed, random one night rooms became available occasionally. I passed on them because we didn't want a patchwork reservation with (potentially) multiple room switches. I had to consider other options, like two nights Aulani on points/four nights paying (crazy expensive and not what I really wanted); two at Aulani/four in Waikiki using Hyatt points. The single nights that became available were gone within a few hours.
