I just do not get it. FOP is NOT an aggressive ride. The restraint system seems so over the top. Why have they not added a roll up platform for wheelchair dependent riders or some alternative seating for riders who can’t make the restraint system work. Seriously… the ride does not seem like it would require anything more than what Soarin’ requires. What am I missing?

FoP’s ride system is part of the experience. You’re riding on the back of a banshee.
But yes, they should really have some accessible seats like they do on Tron so people who can’t manage the restraint system can at least experience the ride. They could take out a couple of banshees in each row and put in a seat. That wouldn’t cut the capacity by that much.

I remember Disneyland had a design to accommodate needs to experience the submarine attraction when it re-opened. I have never heard anybody discussing that but it is possible . It is surprising they have not accomplished this. Are you sure it isn’t accessible?

If there were some real danger then this would be understandable but since there is not, it seems some accommodation to allow everyone to ride would be more Disney-like

This one has irked me from day 1. This one is hard for me to ride and if the CM doesn't listen becomes utterly painful if they slam that restraint in my back or tell me to bend further forward. I'd say half the time the CMs listen and do it gently enough and one time I nearly just walked off. There will come a time ahen I cannot ride it and sadly it's my kid's favorite (only reason why I still do ride it).
I get the whole "experience" BS but it is really just BS. They found a way for Tron (oddly that one does not cause me issues but I cannot always close the restraint myself and need assistance) so why not this? Again it always irked me.

It was completely different at DL submarine attraction . The family requiring assistance could enter into a very nicely themed small room that had a hi-def screen to watch and follow the underwater submarine adventure . I don’t think they still have this option at DL attraction anymore.

Tron has a car that has a bench seat in the rear, for larger people and people with accessibility issues. Not sure why FOP can not add a similar accommodation.

I just saw Nicky’s post mentioning the platform for access … .
I can understand that some of the Ada designs can not always be the answer . Just watching those that are brave enough to drive those monorail ramps makes me realize I have so much more to learn about this lifetime . I don’t think I could do that forwards or backwards. I hope the new WDWBus designs for 2024 introduction are an improvement .

I hope the new WDWBus designs for 2024 introduction are an improvement . Do you mean the ramps the CMs put out to help one get on the monorail itself? They were really easy, at least on a scooter when I needed to use one on a few trips. Straight on and off. The buses were slightly more challenging, not because of the ramps but one has to twist and turn a bit on the bus to get in position. I think the CMs will assist if needed in any event. I found WDW to be extremely disability friendly when I was temporarily disabled.

Haha No… They are testing a new design for the accessibility design change. There might be 2 on order … but everybody is discussing it online.
I have noticed they are using a better quality ramp on the monorails tho. Good to know Disney has ramp updates squeezed into the budget.

I have friends who have had issues with the new monorail ramps, because you have to reverse on now. That also means they ask people already in the carriage to move to the next one so that there is no chance of anyone being rammed. It’s intended to be a safety precaution after several incidents of ECVs tipping over when driving forward up the ramps - I assume they have a steeper incline to them.
