I’m just curious about what percentage of MagicOwners members do rope drop and what you think of it. I almost always rope drop, but it is actually the thing I dislike most about Disney. The anticipation, positioning, and rush to the first ride each morning gives me stress, but I know that it is the best way to get the most out of each day. I always feel much better after the first ride is over.
As a side note, I can walk faster than most people can run so I am always within the few first people on a given ride so it’s not an issue of having to wait too long after rope drop. I just find it stressful.

We are rope droppers. We're early risers and this just make sense, The best time of day while folks are sleeping in. With that said, we're doing it less than we used to (as in, not every day). We still get up as early, but go for a run, have a more leisurely self-made breakfast, walk on the boardwalk. These are days where we just don't care what we rise.
But rope drop is the bomb. Like Genie+, but free and more fun. We just like being places where others aren't. For me, I think it's about growing up in NYC and now seeing the contrast. Even when we visit NYC a couple times a year, we find the places where people aren't and go early.
Cheers.

We rope drop. I am an early riser anyway, so getting out early really isn't for me. I love the low crowds in the morning, no or very small lines in lightning lanes, usually better weather of the day. Best part is after a few hours in the park, we can go back to the resort and get some pool time.

I love rope dropping and the vibe in the park when they’re just opening. Not only can you get more rides done, but I also find it more relaxing during those first few hours even when it’s busy. Midday to late afternoon is my least favorite time in the parks—it’s hot, crowded, and overwhelming. Adventureland in the afternoon is my nightmare.

We do, but we don't run so much any more. We've been there, done that. Even double-rope-drop back when MK would open the right side of the park at 7 then the left side of the park at 8. Have been first on Guardians, Spider Man, Rise, Space, ridden the wildest ride in the wilderness 5 times in a row... pretty much everything. These days our rope dropping is usually send the kids while we peel off and hit the bakery or get coffee. Stores are nice to shop in during this time cuz the cast members just started their day and eager to help you start yours. The most intense rope drops used to be for Toy Story Mania back when the goal was to have a runner grab a paper ticket and try to meet the rest of the party getting in line. It was really aggressive. They also held you at the rope, train, etc and they don't do that any more. It's made the park entry process so much more pleasant!

We do rope drop to get on a few rides with shorter wait times. I noted "reluctantly" because in the days of Fastpass+ we enjoyed leisurely AM's at the resort and would head into the parks later and then stay later at night. Now we have to consider which parks to do early entry and make sure it's not right after a very late night in a different park. Planning time at WDW is always fun regardless!

I rope dropped at DLP, but the parks open there are 9:30 with early entry at 8:30
Plus the resorts are all walkable distance, 10-20 minutes depending on location and speed of walking. So you can leave the resort at 8 and still make it easily, even stopping at somewhere like Earl of Sandwich for breakfast.
At WDW I did it once, staying at BLT. But I only went to see the welcome show at the station, then went back to BLT for breakfast!
I planned to rope drop a few days last year, but it just didn’t happen. Although I was awake, and would book our ILLs and G+ rides at 7am, I sat with a cup of tea and never actually left the villa. No-one else was awake anyway, and although I’m happy to do my own thing and stay in a park longer or go out again in the evening whilst DH stays at the villa or bar, it feels odd to me to leave on my own in the morning.
I have however done a couple of tours that started at 8am.

We have done it - not always intentionally. We are early risers/don't always plan it - but when you are up early, why not?

Not in Disney World. Way to early for the West-coaster!

I rope drop begrudgingly nowadays, the boys do it happily, but we usually only do it for a few days and for specific parks during trips. It's usually something we do those first few days and then we relax more and are sleeping in or popping in after a leisurely morning at the resort for the back half of the trip.
I'm a night owl and prefer to take advantage of the end of day hours (or extended evening hours), especially while everyone is staking out their spot and watching whatever nighttime show is happening, and use that time to get through several rides w/ little or no wait.
For DLR, as east coasters and being walking distance from the resorts to the parks, we definitely rope drop more and it's a lot easier...at least until the end of the trip when our bodies have adjusted to west coast time, lol. Those first couple of days at DLR are glorious because we're up and ready and waiting for a reasonable time to head out for rope drop.

Not in Disney World. Way to early for the West-coaster! For some of you, perhaps. Works very well for us as we get up east-coast early when we're there. We also go to bed east-coast early.
Cheers.

We are rope droppers. I think we always will be. It’s the nicest part of the day and you can ride the most things. The line at Starbucks is the shortest. I am not an early riser usually. Rope drop is key to our strategy.

I will say we are mostly rope droppers. I have some issues we're getting up I do feel better than later on in the day so we try and get out and about while I'm feeling great. When it comes to the afternoon and evening hours, it can really vary for me. We don't always have to be there long before the park officially opens, but I like to get there as early as I can most of the time. There are some times where we skip it and go in a little later though. I voted I love it, but the reality is I'm between reluctant and love. More of it's nice.

Back in the day, with young kids, waking up early was just something that happened so we were always at rope drop. When we started vacationing without kids DH wanted to sleep in and rope drop stopped happening. Back then with FP+ it wasn't really an issue. Now we don't rope drop and neither do we do many rides. Is what it is.

We rope drop if it's just DH and me or DD comes along. DH is always up really early, so he's eager to go, and we get more rides done that way. We still spend the afternoon at the pool and go back to the parks, but we usually finish early around 7-8. In the past when both DD and DS went, we still did the same, but DH would stop about 7-8 because he was up so much earlier than us, and we'd keep going to park closing.
Also, we try to start our first full day and at least one other day on a week-long trip at WDW with breakfast at Whispering Canyon, Boma, or Ale & Compass and then pool time just so we're rested, going to the parks in the late afternoon or evening. Doesn't always go to plan when a tempting VQ time throws off our plans.
