Night Owl here! We have only been in the parks early for Breakfast ADRs or for Tours. Admittedly, we use the low crowd level to get great photos rather than short waits. While we love to ride, we are happy to take advantage of riding with shorter waits during evening shows or extended evening hours and parties. Our shortest waits were usually at MNSSHP during the parade. We loved to see the headless horseman, then we would ride! It's been several years since we have done a party, though. With APs now, we just don't justify spending more for parties. We are heading down in September and may rope drop our first morning at AK to see the animals at their most active.

We rope dropped a few times when the kids were young but now that they teens it’s too much aggravation. I prefer the parks late at night when it starts to empty out. Especially at Disneyland, the last two hours are similar crowds to rope drop.

If we are going with friends, we'll rope drop. But, if it's just the two of us, we get a little later start. The other factor is if we stay late in the parks, then we'll start later the next day.

We've been lucky enough to catch a couple of the late nights for deluxe resort events. At MK, this had been 10p-12a. In that case, we leave close to midnight and do not RD the next morning. We'll typically Epcot for that next day.
Cheers.

I love those deluxe resort nights. When we went in December, they had 2 Epcot nights: Monday and Thursday.

Not much anymore. Even before we became locals we had pretty much switched over from park commandos to enjoying a cup of coffee and a pastry on the balcony while people watching. Now you bookend the coffee and pastry in the morning with a glass of wine and a charcuterie in the evening and that's our kind of vacation...

We used to always rope drop. Recently, we've not been doing Epcot rope drop, because we don't ride Ratatouille or Frozen, which seem to be the popular Epcot RD rides.
DHS--definitely RD; because DHS gets so busy so quickly, we get to the park about an hour before early entry begins.
AK, sometimes we RD and sometimes we don't. The 7:30 early entry (when AK opens at 8) can make RD tough. If we opt to arrive after the park opens, we buy G+ and the FoP ILL.
MK we always RD.
