Respectfully disagree about copyright and trademark expiration. The vehicles are a way to create monopolies and artificially raise prices. Similar to patents where big pharma is an example. I welcome the expiration. People are still free to buy genuine Disney products if they think the quality is higher. I looked at the link you included and they look every bit as good as a lot of the Disney stuff.
Disney made an art of scheming to extend their monopolies beyond original limits. Eventually the chickens (or mice) come home to roost.
Cheers.

I will say that last few trips, I haven't really found any shirts I liked in the parks. (personal opinion, of course) Every store, in every park, on every rack, seems to have the same "Disney Parks 2023" sweatshirt. If the merchandise department upped their game because of this, I'll take it.

I've been rather disappointed in the last 2 hoodies I bought in terms of quality never mind the designs right now are meh. If merch gets a bump in quality because of this I'll be happy.

But as a business owner myself with 3 trademarks, I also get the other side. I am not a huge fan of the older mouse art and likely that is why I am not that into it.

Literally the same one on shirts, hats, sweatshirts, etc. No creativity at all and nothing very unique. I have some very nice stuff from a few years back. Maybe it’s cyclical.

Unlike copyrights and patents, trademarks, so long as they continue to be used do not expire. If they are creating these t-shirts without a license from Disney they are running the risks of trademark infringement.

Correct, copyright in 1928 materials have expired but the trademarks endure. I doubt these shirts were created without a license.

This is definitely a double edge sword, working in R&D part of my job was to develop defendable IP for the company I worked for. These patents do result in higher prices and in some cases market protection but they allow for the developing company to recover what can be sizable investment in the product development. Certainly in some cases companies use patent protect to go well past recovery R&D cost and into insane profit grabbing. In Disney case there is also protecting the brand. The day that the copyright expired horror movies were announced such as Steamboat Willie and I am sure Disney really doesn't want their cute and cuddly mouse that all ages love to become a star of slasher movies. So without copyright protect how do you protect your image? Since this isn't my area of expertise there may be ways of doing it but I don't know what they are.

I am happy to see some nice Disney merch available from SOMEONE! The tees in the parks are just a horrible fit - Life is Good makes a nice v neck. I will definitely look at them.

That is exactly why I am on Life is Good mailing list. Their T-shirts are a perfect fit for me, unlike most brands and like you said, they have the v-neck. They are also very good quality.
