Ok, just got back from BWV and we were lucky and got a refurbished room (Studio).
I like the colors and what they have done. I do think Carpet may get pretty dirty over time, especially in hallways.
But, one thing int he studios has me puzzled. There is not table and chairs.
Now they have included a Coffee Table that can be unfolded and allows use of two stow away cloth footstools as a seat if you want to eat but that does not work for some of us larger people.
And There is a big black space on the wall between the TV/Pulldown Child bed and the sliding door. IF not a table why not put more storage over there.
And in the morning when one person is up before the others, they have not where to sit and read or in my case, put on and time my shoes so I could let the girls sleep.
Just really perplexing decision,.

Well they don't have those little notepads and pens anymore, so no need for a table.
hee hee!
My mom still writes notes on super-vintage "Holiday Inn" notepads and I have some '80s "Embassy Suites" pads.

Not BWV related, but I noticed on my recent stay at OKW/RR/SSR
Only RR had the plastic laundry bags in the closet--I always use them and missed them at OKW and SSR Only SSR had Cottonelle toilet paper-RR and OKW had that cheap stuff that melts in your hands. SSR no longer had a laundry basket SSR no longer had a luggage rack or the bench that was inside the bedroom as you first walked in, so you have to either put your suitcase on the bed (which I hate to do) or the chair and ottoman. SSR no longer has the bar stools at the counter in the kitchen.
And, it truly is the little things that make a difference. I am not a terribly observant person, but obviously these things made a difference to me.

Without the table it almost seems less than a hotel room. At least a hotel room has 2 real queen beds.

And There is a big black space on the wall between the TV/Pulldown Child bed and the sliding door. IF not a table why not put more storage over there. Or a desk. I'd prefer to have a work surface here. I guess that's just where you shove the coffee table and stools when you open the bed right? I didn't love the Tower Studios for the lack of a desk. Thin side-table was all. Not enough space to sit in the room even w just 2 ppl. I don't mind the foldup bed. It's great for say 3 people. Then you pull down the side bed and leave the other in couch mode. 4 ppl, you pull out the double and leave the twin up. Seems pretty flexible. Only if you have 5 in a studio are you going to be cramped and need all those beds open.

Lots of money being saved by eliminating those items from each room.

I found the built-in "side table" in RR's tower studio close to ideal for setting up my laptop and working (I work, usually very early in the morning (i.e., 4-5 a.m.) virtually every Disney trip....being willing to work is what allows me to go as often as I do)...there must have been a chair, as I sat there and worked each and every day of my visit, but I don't remember it....agree that the new coffee tables with their "swing-up" surface is nowhere near as good as the table and chairs of old....finding a place to put it, where you can sit and comfortably type on the laptop (and leave it set up), was a challenge when we were at SSR last month....we figured it out, but it wasn't ideal....so far, THE best studio accommodations for people who have to work while at Disney are at Grand Floridian's Pine Key. (resort studio)....there's a sort of "make-up" table just as you walk in the door (or at least there was in the studio we were in) that was perfect for setting up to work....two things I'd love for Disney to incorporate (re-incorporate?) into their onsite accommodations: pools where one can swim laps (the Swan-Dolphin has a lap pool and a pool configuration that allows for laps), and space that's good for setting up (and staying set up) to work. I can work around both of these current "lacks" but it'd be nice if the powers that be would add these things...

I had an SSR and PVB split stay. SSR has the same type of table and PVB had a small round table and 2 chairs. I liked the pullout table at SSR far more. Bigger space and more usable. Maybe I just like rectangular tables more.

Lots of money being saved by eliminating those items from each room. You are correct. It just used to feel that DVD did not take these shortcuts with Disney. I expect it with Wyndham. Not with DVC.

We need a table for breakfast, and we just sit on the patio. For us, this is a non-issue and makes for more space in the room.
Cheers.

We stayed in a refurbished BWV studio in February. We very much disliked it. Main complaint was nowhere to sit comfortably. We really didn’t want to make up the pull down bed everyday. So, we were left with only the stools. They work great at the villas at disneyland, but not for the BWV layout. Our backs were killing us…no support. We tried bringing in the balcony chairs and table. Very uncomfortable. Finally, we just gave in and put up the bed only to find out that the sofa is harder than a rock.
We could not wait to get outa there!

I agree that this is puzzling since the members would be the ones to pay for this (so who is really saving the money). Although I don't really use a table much, I do sometimes need it for work when at WDW. I'm sure the people who pack the room with extra people using air mattresses will love this.

Maybe there was one of those shareholder meetings and the vote was item #372b, upcoming refurbs, we need to raise yearly dues by an extra 0.5% to pay for new tables and stuff in the rooms...and everyone woke up and yelled, "Boo! More dues boo!!!" and voted it down.

Here is a potential solution: A small folding table like this (I found it on amazon). It would fit in an owner's locker. If you need a chair to go with it, I'm sure you could find one that would fit in there with this.
