With such a bad miss.....someone's head has to be on the cutting block. No, just wait. May will be the killer month for the Cabins. Really, trust me. Pent up demand. We built it and they will come. Really they will... Cheers. Yeah, uh... I'll be watching for it

Who was in charge of this I wonder? I know they used to have the heads of DVC all over this stuff but is it Bill Diercksen or his boss Thomas Mazloum. Or someone below? I'm not sure which is worse, the Aulani MF issues or this? Also they will have to really dig deep to understand the issues before plowing ahead again with Reflections. Glad they have PVB that will be on sale sometime soonish. I am curious where the market research was, when these decisions were being made?

OKW outsold? Wow....... Now if PVB outsells currently (not after new points go on sale - those sales are pretty much on hold right now with a rare exception) you know it's a horrible miserable failure. The sale promo for Old Key West is really good, if you bought higher point contracts.

Killer month it may well be, just not quite the kind of killer month they would like. 🤣🤣 I know they had some amazing sweeteners on OKW but even so, those figures are laughable.

Did they just go to Instagram during Halloween and think that it was a huge draw for all or what? I really don't get these cabins at all for DVC. I mean I get them, but not why they would make them all DVC. OKW outsold? Wow....... Clearly I've been under a rock... What was the OKW promo? I don't need more points, but now I'm curious...

Well maybe nobody wants to buy them but they sure are Not easy to book for Halloween , Thanksgiving or Xmas … Availability is gone within a second . Maybe a new Easter Bunny Parade … Do campers decorate every holiday? With the length of these seasons , Disney does not really have that much downtime except for the summer months of extreme heat and bugs .
The theme ing will be Walt’s love of nature and they decided to update the Cabins first.. Maybe they will bring back the original train concept with passage from the Fort to New Resort and include the Wilderness Lodge too.

Only SSR & OKW have availability. As said booking is fine. Buying is another story. For 11 months they're wide open. Too new to guess trends too.

The OKW promo at 115 for 300 points was really good. Kinda/sorta just tuning in to this conversation - is this an old thing or a current thing?

The OKW promo at 115 for 300 points was really good. Kinda/sorta just tuning in to this conversation - is this an old thing or a current thing? This is the breakdown for the add-on discounts for Old Key West.
The base price starts at $205 per point with ownership running through January 31, 2057. Current owners will save $20 off a 100-point add-on, with the savings rising to a massive $90 per point for larger purchases:
Disney's Old Key West Resort Points Discount 25 - 99 points $0 100 - 124 points $20 125 - 149 points $30 150 - 199 points $40 200 - 249 points $50 250 - 299 points $60 300 - 499 points $70 500 - 999 points $80 1000+ points $90
A 500 point add-on is $205 - $$80 pp = $125 per point.

I still think there is a group they were going after….the ones who like the values and moderates who probably never considered DVC because of the “stuffiness” of the deluxe resorts. (Not criticizing, just pointing out everybody has different comfort desires). Two main factors have affected them purchasing, inflation and those high maintenance fees. Maybe once the economy gets better things will turn around.

If more availability is opened AND sales are slow, that would create a situation where rooms are opening faster than number of DVC owners. That means if FW continues to fully book, that should leave open rooms elsewhere in the DVC system. Now, of course, the open rooms could be created away from WDW - like someone who booked FW instead of Aulani, Vero Beach, Hilton Head, or DL.

I think the decision to make the cabins as DVC Cabins was for 2 reasons: 1) The old cabins needed to be replaced but they are expensive to do so and the maintenance is high. So, the cabins were made DVC so Disney could pass on most of the costs to DVC and pass the costs onto the buyer. 2) Some people complained that the DVC rooms are not pet friendly so now DVC can say yes, we have some pet friendly options.
So it might not matter that the cabins are not selling quickly. At least some $ is coming in; Disney would have had to pay for the cabins anyway.
