You are 100% Correct.
Plus I guarantee, if you stay just once You will have so much fun… just happened to get a cast member rate 50% recently and have already returned just for the fun of driving around on a golf cart early morn sunrise , fireworks view at waters edge with lots of friends (stranger) to wait for Electricl Water Pageant , going to the Barn to watch them feed and care for the animals that are for the childrens pony ride ( in a circle ) plus push the button to see the beautiful Disney Vintage Calliope and lots of interesting framed pictures of Disney History and I am waiting to return for the holidays to push that button cause I am hoping for holiday Melody’s !!!
And s’ mores with Chip nDale and a cowboy with guitar singing and cracking cowboy jokes plus a movie every night and dancing the Hokey Pkey with ChipnDale! Oh yeah where do I sign up for that fixed guaranteed holiday week (Haha ) just kidding I have no intention of buying ) but Love the Fort ! and I didn’t mention bbq and fried chicken and picnics and Hoopy De Doo rowdy fun! And just last week second return visit I watched a father at the back of the kayak with his young son up front and small daughter in middle with the paddles .. He was “ teaching “ them both early morn . I watched them go under the bridge and took a picture but couldn’t figure out where they returned the canoes, etc… I was going to see if they would like the photo I took of them .
JAWS might be the best outdoor big screen movie but I guarantee I have not forgotten over 20 years ago with family visit watching Pinocchio at the outdoor Fort Wilderness movie screen and when Monstro the Whale surfaces from the water with mouth wide open for Pinocchio and Jiminy Crickett ! I thought I was a goner too! And I think I they have updated the screen !

I think the decision to make the cabins as DVC Cabins was for 2 reasons: 1) The old cabins needed to be replaced but they are expensive to do so and the maintenance is high. So, the cabins were made DVC so Disney could pass on most of the costs to DVC and pass the costs onto the buyer. So it might not matter that the cabins are not selling quickly. At least some $ is coming in; Disney would have had to pay for the cabins anyway. This above is what I think the main reason the Cabins went DVC. Disney is off-loading its costs of the Cabins, the staff, the amenities, the maintenance, transportation, etc to DVC members. Disney does not mind the slow sales, because they will rent out the unsold inventory for themselves. Its like adding a value resort for people who want to have more in a room.
I wonder if/when they build Reflections, will the Cabins be part of Resort? I am thinking yes.

Don’t forget they offer great castmember discounts . Unfortunately many cast members still can not afford .
I am always wondering which executive is “ vacationing” in the Castle every night … and in New Orleans Square at Disneyland ! And probably a nice stay in the Bungalows or those Cabins .
There current problem will be transportation with all the new resort additions.

? The points from 2023 when you purchase Fort W DVC Cabin Membership . Not my BLT 2023 points that expire July31 st…. I wish ! I cancelled a reservation and forgot they were from 2023 … Probably don’t want to stay at Fort during hurricane season . It’s getting hot & muggy in Florida

I wonder if/when they build Reflections, will the Cabins be part of Resort? I am thinking yes.
That was my original thinking. But if that was the case, wouldn’t the maintenance fees for Reflections be the same as for the Cabins, ie: astronomical? Unless they can reduce those fees when they add on “regular” DVC rooms. So now I’m wondering if it’ll be more of a sister resort scenario, like CCV and BRV.

But if Reflections is a mixed resort with both DVC and Resort CRO reservations, maybe the costs will be divided out a little differently? I don't know that they could significantly lower the fees, but that is not completely unheard of to actually have a reduction in these. Or they could possibly stay stagnant for a while? I am not entirely sure. I would think if Reflections opened within the next 10 years that it would still possibly be the same association. I'm just not convinced entirely that this is really going to happen. I know about the 5-year extension on the permits, but I still question. I also wonder if the sales of the cabins will determine the future for Reflections?

I think the decision to make BRV and Copper Creek separate was based on the anniversary dates and length of years left. The years still available for GFV and Big Pine Key and maybe Poly DVC are closer in leftover years. I was really ticked with how shitty they treated BRV home resort members during that time ! But that construction went on forever so maybe the weather was really bad during that time, delaying construction…

Anyway , this morn at exactly 8:00 a.m. , the Cabins sold out within a blink for Xmas Eve In comparison, the VGC sold out immediately too but the new Disneyland Hotel is still showing availability for 12/24-1/1/2025 So are the cabins more popular than the new DLH because of price points? I checked within 8:00 and 8:02 this morn .
I have a daughter that has gone to University in San Francisco ( she worked part time at the Benetton Store in Ghirardeli Square )
and 2 years in Paris and grad school in Chicago and has lived in New York working for Christie’s Auction House & vacationed airbnB in AirStream at some National Park And yet she is so excited about the Fort and driving around Disney in a golf cart for the holidays! Haha Maybe DVC knows what they are doing after all !
Sorry that sounds like I am bragging but I am not at all. Just trying to figure out why everybody wants to think the Fort is a mistake …
And the rest of the story is me trying to figure out how she ended up living in Texas and Ihave 2 grandchildren with Texas accents !

I would never compare DLR with WDW period. Again most of Christmas is sold out at resorts prior to 7 months. Not a wise time to look for real ideas. These also are not owners. We've said it could book during certain times of the year well. It just isn't selling well. That's a fact. When more than 20% of inventory is available and holiday madness is over, then we can talk. They're popular to visit. It's the ownership we're questioning.

I think using the very popular holiday period is not necessarily indicative of the rest of the year. Also, as many other have said, the FW cabins will likely be popular for renters and cash guests, but won't be popular to own. The sales numbers for the first two months back up this thought. As for VDH, it's a combination of factors - DL visitors don't tend to book so far out (VGC is a different beast because it is sooo small), many balk at the additional transient occupancy tax (TOT), and there are many nice hotels available for much less across the street on Harbor Blvd.

Just trying to figure out why everybody wants to think the Fort is a mistake I think it’s a mistake because no one wants to actually buy there. It will be hugely popular with members who own elsewhere wanting to switch at 7 months. For the points cost of a studio you get a whole cabin. For some people that will work great and they can stretch their points. But as long as people can do that, or book one for cash, they won’t want to buy there and pay maintenance fees that are 50% higher than other resorts. And you can do all the activities at the Fort without staying there, other than swimming.

I think the Transient tax is hurting the DisneyLand decision and the restrictions . I don’t plan to buy at the FW Cabins but with just one actual visit, I am hooked because it really is Fun with a lot of things to do . And the possibility of a new resort might make membership more popular than any of you are willing to consider.
Do we all have that much lack of confidence in our DVC Development ? How can we declare something a loser ( except for the Aulani blunder . On second thought maybe the Board and President , etc decision makers are out of touch with reality. Oh dear…. I do know their BRV / CC decisions pissed me off enough I will never buy again .
And they are making it so confusing with future my family has zero interest in keeping or inheriting my membership .
Ugg I guess you are all correct . No future with DVC cause they don’t know what they are doing How many have actually spent the night at the Fort and how many actually attend the Annual Condo Meeting to present a question ?
Maybe there are a few MagicOwners that grew up with DL since the 1960s and had the double DL/ WDW Premier Pass every year because I lived inthe heartland ( Kansas City ) and SouthWest flight was so cheap … I would alternate months DL/ WDW until I moved to Florida a few years ago. I have actually eaten many breakfasts at the original Monorail Cafe and have the original Menu in my souvenirs. So I don’t really need an explanation of the DL/ DCA guest . I am the crazy person that entered and grabbed the bench with DL Open in morn and stayed on it til Midniight every New Years Eve . And spread the blanket out to be front row for nightly Fantasmic … bad Disney addiction led me to DVC membership .
Please don’t explain DisneyLand behavior , my family lives in Ventura and San Diego area and my daughter was born on the
Port Hueneme Naval Base …shout out to the Seabees this Memorial Day weekend Salute to the Veterans ! Thank you for your service .

Thank you for your service . For the record, DVC still has a great future. Let's not forget that the legacy resorts don't expire for a couple of decades. There are still good, desired projects like the new Poly tower and the relatively recent GF add on. VDH is not a bad idea and will eventually sell (even with the TOT). With DL getting the approval for the massive add on, it will bring much more interest (albeit 10 years from now). I actually live in Ventura county and own at VGC (resale) and VDH (direct). I think the VDH tower is quite nice and I love the retro throwback. It is a huge luxury purchase, but I knew and accepted that going in.

Disneyland is different now than opening days. It even is different in the make up of guests than it was 40 years ago.
The fact is the guest make up is very different. WDW is a vacation destination. DLR is more local and a part of a trip for east coasters as a whole. The issues they have at DLR varies greatly from WDW. Nothing to do with anything else nor was I implying anything negative about what you were saying.
