I think the concept for Poly II looks good. But it really is one connected structure, albeit the facets. As concrete, the facets are not as apparent and it really is a connected block. With the concept drawing, it is still all connected, but looks more modular. For VGF, though, I don't get the comment. The main building is one large structure, albeit with charm. The other buildings on the site (there are something like 8 or so) are all single structures. VGF just doesn't look any different from the other buildings. And this is from looking at all of them from our balcony and looking at VGF from the grounds. Maybe I'm just missing it, but VGF looks like it was always there and looks like the rest of the buildings at GF. In a way that BLT does not. And, yeah, I do know that you were not completely serious  As for change related hate, let's talk about Food Rocks and the original Journey into Imagination. I actually also was very sad losing that show area for Soarin but that ride won me over. Until it changed again... now I'd rather have anything else. I don't think anyone will disagree about Journey though.. Maybe I should bring up the SSE wand at Epcot and the Sorcerer's hat at DHS.... those are some good fights (I disliked both and was thrilled when removed but some friends say I'm insane) The Hat is a sore point with me as well. I loved it and was sad to see it go.
For Food Rocks, I thought it was in the area where the movie is now on the mezzanine level. Was it actually where Soarin' is now? Obviously they added the building for the screens, and I guess I don't remember what that space looked like before. But I did not recall Food Rocks being down there. But it surely could have bee, However, it could be elsewhere and still have Soarin'.
Oh, and I was in Guest Services in Epcot for something else and mentioned that they should being back California Soarin', or do something new without all the CGI...that is really bad.

Nope, Soarin killed Food Rocks (which killed Kitchen Kabaret). The other theater had Symbiosis and then a Circle of Life movie. I really wasn't too upset about the update for Soarin until I actually saw it. The first time I rode, I was all the way on the edge. It was horrible. I was so happy to be able to catch it with the California version this past fall when I was there. I really noticed how much I missed that version after seeing the two back-to-back practically |

Ok, I am one for dissenting opinions. However, not negativity. We can nicely agree to disagree. That said, I will kindly say that if you want to be reminded of a big concrete structure, BLT wins all day. Poly Tower is in no way repeating that. YMMV |

Two bedroom Lock-offs......DVC secret weapon to add more points. Because a 2-bedroom lock-off is at least 20% more points than a standard 2-bedroom.
I’ve had two bedroom lock offs sometimes by choice, sometime because that’s what was available. I never saw a 20% higher point rate. I can only speak to where we have had a two bedroom lock off and that was OKW and CCR. If you book a 1-bedroom and a studio separately, which are a 2-bedroom lock-off, it will cost you more points.
For example, VGF lake view, one week in December. Studio - 162 points 1-bedroom - 353 points
157 + 340 = 497 points
2-bedroom lock-off - 458 points
39 point difference for the week, 9% difference in points.

I saw the June 4th date and did not know that it was cash only. That is kind of ridiculous IMO. I already have a stay booked at Poly in December and was hoping to move it to the tower. I guess I will keep an eye on the date points can be used, but I wonder how much availability there will be by then. Almost ALL my points are at Poly so I once again am so thankful the tower is part of the original resort. My family of 6 LOVES Poly but hates staying in connecting studios. We love the 2 bedroom suites at virtually all the other resorts. I can't wait to get into a 2 bedroom in the tower!

You were still looking at it from a booking point of view. What was being discussed was about the resort numbers and points as a whole. The whole lock off argument comes into play when looking to make sure that points are evenly and fairly distributed when they make changes. Just googled and it was the 2020 point charts that caused the biggest uproar. People threatened law suits even www.dvcnews.com/other-resources/feature-articles/4391-what-is-the-lock-off-premiumI remember that I, and someone else, made very detailed spreadsheets showing all units in the resort and the before and after points for both LO and non-LO options to show that the total did not change. (Actually, it did, but it was like a 1% change which, I guess, is unavoidable when redistributing). Cheers. I remember those spreadsheets. Which resort did it affect the most do you recall? |

And yes differing opinions always welcome! I did think I could mess with brp a little there though (I did refrain from singing Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit though). I did find some very positive discussions recently about the new tower even with those disagreeing it was done with respect. One site I did have to go away from. The constant negativity was too much. Same people with same crap every day. Btw the Hampton Inn I linked to was one I stayed in. It wasn't really bad but just a good average hotel. Those who use Marriott make me laugh. Keep in mind the rooms that are going on sale for cash prices are ones that would not be declared for DVC inventory as well. There will not be the same pool of points for everything. Just like now, DVC holds that small percentage that get rented out as CRO rooms. Often it seems DVC declares a good selection of rooms for the owners so that the rooms they have for cash initially are not specialty rooms. Or at least not entirely just the specialty rooms. So by the time you can book, there will be as much availability as there would be if cash rooms were not being sold first. They did this at Disneyland recently as well. Like you though, I am really looking forward to one and two bedrooms! |

I think I did it for BWV (maybe BCV also) and didn't see an impact that was substantial. There will be some breakage just given the nature of the beast and the concept of integers, but there was no impact. Then again, I may have looked after things got resettled. Or maybe these were not the impacted properties.

There is zero reasons why Disney can't have multiple versions running at once. There are multiple screens. Its not that hard to do. I mentioned this as a suggestion to the guest services woman as well. Since they all run independently, they could certainly run different versions. Of course, the downside of this is that no one would be in "Around the World" and the California theatres would be jammed

To each their own. I know what I just looked at for the past four days, and I don't think it fits. I'm sure that others feel differently and I won't ignore their different views even if they choose to ignore mine. This is just the opinion I formed based on actually looking at the fit of this structure in its surroundings. If it's considered negativity because it's not all magic and fairy dust, so be it. Cheers. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I still wish the style was more like the longhouses, though. One thing I noticed is that you can hardly see the tower from the actual Polynesian. It kind of pokes over the top of the volcano at the pool, but otherwise I really only noticed it when I was looking that direction from the beach. Most of the time I never would've known it was there. I still don't get the VGF criticisms either. It seems to fit in very well with the rest of the resort IMO. I guess there are some differences in styles, but I feel like one really has to scrutinize it to notice them. |

Big regret not buying PVB when it was first available. After so much anticipation of owning at the iconic resort, I just couldn't get over what I saw as wasted space…could have easily accommodated a stackable W/D or a bigger kitchen space. We did eventually stay there and it is now one of our favorite studios.
How lucky the current owners are…
