Unfortunately I think this is going to be a problem between owners and renters from here on. Our dues have gone up considerably. I realize the other day that I was renting to a friend at a rate that only gave me about a 50 cents clearance of my dues. That's just too low for the work involved. I think the days of $10 per point are long gone. And that's going to be an issue for everyone. I do empathize with the renter who's trying to minimize expenses as much as possible. Disney is a very expensive vacation these days. And I have relatives who are going to have to rent themselves next year. So I'm pricing it for them. There is a certain amount of sticker shock. My problem is between my family and I, we're using every single point we have. I just don't have a buffer anymore for friends or family. Or rentals. Which is not a really bad thing because it means we all get to enjoy Disney a lot. Good luck in your search! I was talking to my parter last night about seeing $10 on some old threads. (when I say cheap now I mean $14+) When the pound was worth something. There would have been absolute bargains at Disney. But during this time Disney UK would offer dinning plan for free and other discounts. So I would guess not many UK folk would have even looked for DVC. Disney from UK is all set up for maximise time onsite time and spend. For example in the UK can only buy a 7 day or 14 day ticket. 14 days are the same price. They come with park hopping and memory maker as standard and include all parks and water parks. Fingers crossed for me something gives. I got lucky last year with rental costs. So hopefully I find some luck again ! You’re certainly braver than me. We are owners but when we need extra points I book a cash stay instead. I just couldn’t take the risk of renting points and having to cancel. I just feel there are too many possible things to go wrong with having to travel from the U.K. The nearest I came was when a friend offered some OKW points that she would have transferred to me, but she didn’t have enough to get us what we wanted. Who do you use for travel insurance and do they cover the cost of the rental? That could be a game changer for us!

Id never have been able to afford to stay at Wilderness lodge last year if it wasn't for renting point. (how I dream about WL daily now) So for me I'm going Hell or high water ! A few insurances cover time share rental. But I beleive you have to basically have a contract in place with the owner that instead of saying you purchased x amount of points you have it as nights. I need a new policy so will be checking terms like a hawk in the next few weeks.

Wow, I had always wondered why some many people seem to have a disdain for Disboards, and after reading thru this thread, I finally understand. Didn't realize that much banning was happening for being yourself there (and not limited to just scammers). It does seem ridiculous to me, but their boards, their rules or whatever interpretation that they want to apply. I guess I been safe since I try never to get into the politics of anything or argue with anybody, if I disagree, I simply just don't comment to avoid conflict, it just not worth it. Everybody is allow to have their own thoughts and opinions and express whatever they desire. I am glad to have this board, MagicOwners, where people are free to express their opinions, no matter how much we may disagree for a lively discussion to put it mildly. Back on topic, while I have what I want to see for a RTB forum, I will refrain from offering my suggestions, wants, etc.. simply because of adding work for the admins/moderaters/etc. To me, let them decide whether they decide to host a RTB forum, and how it's done, and be happy with whatever comes out of it. I am just happy that there is consideration to have one, and if it didn't happen, that's alright too. Thanks All. This is my first post to MagicOwners, didn't even know when MouseOwners was finally taken down. I took a break for about 3+ months on all the forums, but just now reading again, and so much changed already, and glad MagicOwners is in full swing. Great3 I'm totally open to suggestions and thoughts. Just not pay to play. Glad you found your way here though. I do understand for DISBoards their rules, their place. I just told them to shove it when they banned for being a member of a different forum. They were going to reinstate me and a few others, but me and a few friends told them to stuff it effectively. Just was the tip of the iceberg. Just never bring up the mugs... you'll be fine Lessons learned is that most adults play well with little watch. Some are not great but most are. Spammers are to be dealt with and the rest? Have fun. Our FB group shows that. Very small percentage of jerks. We're pretty hands off though. Dang, what other sorts of forums do you belong to to get you banned?

We got tired of blowing pixie dust up each other's.... well you know. A place that wasn't apologetic to Disney all the time. It was stupid.

If anyone knows of points available let me know For this year you’re only 4 months out. That is quite late to be looking, especially for an extended stay which will need a large number of points. Good luck though.

We've done fireworks cruises for special occasions and loved that. Special tours and dinners too are nice. Just depends on the person.

I have shared with friends and it is fun that way. I personally would sooner do the planned shared vs looking for strangers to fill the slots as it is a very private feel.
