Not gonna watch, but my main number one thought about its failure is pricing. Disney got greedy and really out priced the audience it was created for. Consumers speak loudly with their wallet.

Not gonna watch, but my main number one thought about its failure is pricing. Disney got greedy and really out priced the audience it was created for. Consumers speak loudly with their wallet. Interestingly I have a friend who is a massive SW fan. Came to Disney just for SW stuff at DHS and I regularly drop $200-500 per trip on lightsabers for him. He and 3 of his friends were considering going to the Star Wars hotel when it was first announced. This was not a financial issue for them at all, but they corrupted never to go after seeing the results. Having it in the newest Star Wars era with newer Star Wars characters versus The Originals, was a big deal. To add to it, having cosplay like escape room scenarios as well as a ship that looks like it belonged more on Fifth Element then Star Wars, did not help at all. After Andor came out, the comparisons between the prison and this Galactic Cruiser were made which song even further in opinions. For some it was about finances, but for others it was about an inauthentic experience. A lot of old school Star Wars fans are rather unhappy with the direction Disney took with all of Star Wars. Not to say all of it is bad, but the overall decisions they have made in the past 10 years or so have really soured feelings for some. My friend and I talked about going numerous times and in the end we both felt this was just not what old school Star Wars fans wanted. I know there were some pretty good reviews by some, but I always wonder if they just felt that way because they were newer fans or if they were just kind of showing off that they were able to go? It just felt fake to us. We both felt that this would fail pretty quickly based on how they opted to do it.

My weekend mornings are usually spent watching some Youtube, so watching now. It's a lot better than expected. One of her first segments goes back and chronicles the marketing history, and that is very telling. As an avid SW fanatic, married to an avid SW fanatic, we were initially excited about a SW hotel coming to Disney. (my Mother's Day gifts this year: Kanan Jarrus lightsaber, Funko Darth Maul/Pre Vizla, and a card written in Aurebesh, with alphabet so I could translate, totally fun.) We LOVED SW weekends, and thought this was going to be an expansion of that. Once we started seeing the promos though, we thought it looked completely goofy and uncomfortable. I avoided streetmosphere people every chance I could. Makes me too nervous, so once we realized this was going to be some extended dinner theater type role playing, we knew, for that insane price tag, we weren't going to be going. If it had been a LOT cheaper, or the younglings were younger, we might've eventually considered it for their sakes. I know it was a fabulous experience for a lot of folks who went, who really like that type of activity/immersion. I'd rather spend that money going to a Star Wars Celebration convention. Everyone there is a true fan, wants to be there. the cosplay is excellent, the activities are great. I watch a lot of SW vloggers, listen to a lot of podcasts, and only a tiny handful of them went to the Star Cruiser. or expressed any interest in it. Disney totally missed that entire customer base. Anyway, her video so far is very well done, better than expected. I sure hope they'll do something SW with that space.... I think they should give up on keeping the whole land in that sequel era and just allow for different timelines.

I agree, but I actually think that going with the new story will prove to be a smart move (even if not for the hotel). The fans of the real Star Wars are, generally, old. Millennials and Gen-Z would be more focused on the newer set if they like Star Wars at all. And that's where the money will be coming from now and into the future, not us geezers. So, it may have made sense to sacrifice some now (still does really well) to look for the future.
The hotel was doomed from the start but the land, much as it is not what I would have wanted, may be a longer term play.
Cheers.

My friend is an older Millennial, but still decidedly Millennial. Our co horts didn't like it either. Maybe younger Millennials might be more drawn to the new? I grew up with bad ass Leia. I saw these movies in the theater when released (was a toddler for the first but still) New stuff doesn't fly as well with me. I like 7 and 9 but realized what I like was the tie to the old. GenX all grew up with the originals. I have an OG Boba Fett doll in my hands at home (this guy www.ebay.com/itm/114830260609?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=114830260609&targetid=2295557532390&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9014969&poi=&campaignid=19851828444&mkgroupid=160536780385&rlsatarget=pla-2295557532390&abcId=9307249&merchantid=114703845&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmMayBhDuARIsAM9HM8dEP37deq2_PwkfbWUje9uF-kzHuJSLuILR_8djNz7sKjsC_ml_ZUsaAlpcEALw_wcB)It's not just you "geezers" remember the first movie came out 47 years ago. The last was 41 years ago. The youngest Gen X are 44. So you're going to have a lot of 30 something year olds who loved the original too.

Nothing like watching the original Star Wars movie “ A New Hope” at the Uptown Theater in Cleveland Park in Washington DC in 1977! A monumental event it was!

Mine was on a date with Judi, my first realish date. I even got a "May the Force be with You" button that I have long since lost, and I'm usually pretty good about keeping memorabilia.
Yeah, no one could argue that the acting was great, but it was just so compelling and lovable. The newer ones, less so.
Cheers.

Good thing VHS and blockbuster existed Really though as a young girl, Leia was wonderful to watch. Gave us ideas that we weren't just damsels in distress

Maybe younger people like the new characters more - I don't really know. However, they could not possibly afford this experience in the numbers that Disney needed to make it a success. The geezers are the ones with the money.
