I didn't say Nickys was a hater, first and foremost. To even suggest that direction is uncool. I asked if there was a different video I missed because each thing I've seen shows greens, yellows, and teals with light teak color. I was also on vacation when all hit. So likely could have missed something. As for the beige regurgitatiom hate, WDWMagic is downright nasty there towards PVB tower. To the point I cannot stand to be there anymore. I peeked a day ago and they're ramping right up. So they're one site to go to if you love negativity. Tikiman's been struggling to get people to stop posting hate towards it. Constant negativity is toxic and hard to overcome. If beige is the only complaint then go with it. One of the other official pages run by a DVC guy is doing better now after saying the attacking needed to quit Though reality is these colors and themes were pulled from the original Polynesian drawings in the 60s before they swapped to ehat they did. I'm a massive Polynesian fan and on many more sites than average. So I likely see more than most. You don't have to love all the same but I'm over negativity with this honestly. It's gotten awful honestly. People want to be mad, and sadly that's not healthy. But that's me. Naw, I wasn't saying you thought Nickys was a hater. You said you'd seen it on PVB Tower hating sites. Nickys had the same criticism and she's obviously not a hater. I'm not a hater either. So it's not just about people hating the tower was my point. People just have different preferences (as you said). I also think a lot of people just feel strongly about this stuff. When the bungalows were built there were a lot of critical comments. One can still find complaints about changes to the lobby at Poly or the DVC building at Grand. I agree that WDWMagic is negative in many of their comments - across a lot of topics. I do appreciate that there are a variety of opinions, a lot of historical knowledge, and seemingly many posters who have info on the behind the scenes workings at Disney. But, I definitely prefer the tenor of Mouse/MagicOwners. Gotcha (and my apologies for misunderstanding) - and yes, we can all have likes and dislikes about different places. I think when it becomes uber negative that it's just not good to do. As you said there are some very strooooong feelings out there. I don't think the PVR people ever forgave DVC for building PVB at all. So these "haters" have almost 10 years of disdain going on. It's awful in some places. It just gets bad when you hear the exact phrases used repeatedly. Polyday Inn is one. People are using Marriot like an insult as well as hotels on Waikiki - which often they are gorgeous hotels. So it feels strange to see, but I think the anger of the GCH losing the water feature as well as the bungalows being built and losing some good longhouses is mostly unforgivable to some. Then add in the tower and it's just, well toxic. They repeat same phrases repeatedly and just suck the joy out of planning for those who are happy. Riviera seems to be trashed a lot too. I hate the skyliner (not the resort) which caused us to say one and done, but I'm don't quite understand those who think it looks bland as well. Maybe we just see things different. VGF gets the "too white" too which technically yes, but it also has elements that set it apart. I do see tonal and textures as ways to break up monotony. Some love All Stars big and bright and other's don't so it goes all ways. I know change is hard though, so I try to give some grace, but some of the places are just too much now sadly.

It's all good I've read those comparisons and I also find them to be tiresome. I think a lot of the criticisms I see are focused on the colors. My personal comparisons are to a couple hotels on the Big Island. I'd say the new tower is more overtly themed than those hotels. I think the tower rooms seem "nicer" than the longhouses, but not as nice as those Hawaii hotels. I think you make a good point about the textures. I think I prefer the longhouses overall. Of course this is based on a video and some pictures, neither of which appear to be accurate representations of the rooms 😂

Not to say they're bad. I actually would do the longhouse studios if I were doing just me and one other. Solo I'd probably stick to the tower. Even the duos. But we're in it for the 1 and 2 bedrooms so we can comfortably stay for longer trips. They are different but I appreciate them both.

It's all good I've read those comparisons and I also find them to be tiresome. I don't even know where these comparisons are, so don't have to bother reading them and seeing the hate. Even if I did, I wouldn't care as I make my own opinions. I will listen to what others say and see if they resonate with me in a "hadn't thought of that" manner. But, if I don't agree with negative (or positive) comments, I just ignore them. They don't suck any joy out of me. I just feel sorry for them.
But not knowing where these even are and likely not having access anyway, makes it that much easier.
And, yes, VGF (and GF, in general) is very white. Very much like the Raffles hotel in Singapore (and I can't help thinking that Disney drew inspiration from that), and it is also very elegant. It is trying to be understated and elegant in appearance as opposed to loud and boisterous. Nothing wrong with either.
Pretty much all of my Disney reading is here. There is some hating going on, but it's a small percentage of the traffic and a few people.
Cheers.

Cheers. Since I am such a long time fan (42 years) I am in some different groups. I understand some dislike change and won't give anything a chance. It's honestly a bit sad when it's a pile on and constantly dogging others who like it. It's just not them disliking but going after those who are interested. Someone says they're excited and another will reply, enjoy the <insert negative comment>. Maybe it's how my brain is wired, but that is joy sucking. I personally want to make sure I'm not missing a video or something. I caught then first one while riding TTA

I like what I’ve seen, both pictures and video. Definitely will be the site of some future stays, plus easily walkable to my Grand Floridian lobby as well.
I’ve been accused of being bland. Indeed, I’ve also liked all the recent resort refurbishments. Is there a correlation there? I don’t give a shit.

Well some colour would be better than the colour on the video, where everything seemed to be sandy beige. There was no contrast at all, which is why I was so unimpressed. You're talking the official video with the lady with rose tone to her blonde hair right or was there one I missed? Because I see multiple colors and quite a lot of contrast with both colors and textures on that as it is. I see nice contrasts of color on all the seating, on the carpets, by the headboards, in the bathrooms by the mirrors, and all that. I realize I see more colors than some (tested for jewelry work - yes it's a thing) but to say there was no contrast at all, is hard for me to understand. Maybe some want bolder colors. I've seen it repeatedly regurgitated on a couple of PVB tower hating sites. The thing is, not everyone likes harsh, dark or super bright colors. Either version to me is totally gorgeous. For calming senses, I hope it's between the two. I will take either though. The current PVB lacks diversity in colors and is a bit dark. I enjoy the rooms but like lighter better. Disney actually went lighter due to complaints at the Polynesian. They'll likely go lighter in all the rooms next time due to customer feedback. I'm sure some will prefer darker, but there are other resorts for those who do want darker or harsher colors. The color scheme here is more luxe for sure than the current PVR rooms as a whole. Some will appreciate it and others not. I personally go for more luxe feels. I'm interested to see the bathroom with the mother of pearl. Those never translate well into pictures so it'll be neat to see how it looks IRL. You were misunderstanding what I was saying. But first off, I am not a PVB hater, I’d love to stay there some day. I don’t like the placement of the Tower, but that’s a different debate. I get why they went for it but I wish they’d gone for something more fitting to the rest of the Poly resort. As far as the video was concerned, I’m talking about the piece of artwork on the wall. Until they zoomed in on it, I could barely make it out because they somehow managed to drain the colour out of it. Maybe it’s partly the contrast on my iPad , but for whatever reason all I saw was the turtle in the middle of the wall. When she started explaining it, it’s just the sort of stuff I like. It’s taking inspiration from Polynesia (OK, and Moana which I’ve never seen) and it’s obvious they’ve taken the trouble to create something unique. But that’s no use if my eyes can’t pick it out when looking at it from across the room. I’d have preferred it to have had more shades of colour to it, maybe some cream, some varying tones to the sand colour, some light brown tones so that it was more prominent. I’m hoping it was just crap lighting they used, or the editing. But I’ll definitely take a room tour if I can to see for myself. I do find it very odd that the Studio piece of artwork that is supposed to be inspired by water is the same colour scheme as the sand inspired piece though. That’s a head scratcher to me.

I do find it very odd that the Studio piece of artwork that is supposed to be inspired by water is the same colour scheme as the sand inspired piece though. That’s a head scratcher to me. Again I did not call you a hater, as I specifically mentioned some toxic negativity in groups. Second I asked if there was a different video because I literally just returned from Disney and not as connected so I thought I missed something and wanted to be sure. I said this all in subsequent replies too. Just so you know I'm honestly trying to find out why some see no color at all. Never minding the complete texture changes or exact color, I see a difference in base tones (warm, neutral, and cool) between the wall and the manta ray. The walls are warm toned the art seems cool toned. I know I texted friends saying the dining area is gorgeous and assumed it was only for 2 bedroom penthouses. Glad I was wrong. I see a ton of color in all of the seating too. So not just when a bed is down. The bathrooms all have very vibrant colors too. I wonder if some of it is due to different color displays on devices then because the art behind the table stood out to me. I do run on very highly detailed devices though for work purposes - yes even on my phone which was the first one I saw it on. That design was gorgeous to me and I see creams in addition to deeper tones all adding to the physical texture. I was on TTA when I watched it too so curious if others are maybe seeing different even outside of human differences in ability to see color (again it's true some people are more color deficient than others). Is it human differences or device differences? Both? Or something else. I do think some parts of the video look washed out. I think some of the photos look a bit unnatural as well. The mother of pearl tiling will be impossible to capture likely due to the nature of the stone. So you are aware, I have received messages from a few asking us to try to keep the super negativity out of this group in regards to this. Seeing another forum and a number of Polynesian specific groups I understand why. Too many were not giving it a chance. Hard balance to accept criticisms without letting the toxic negativity coming in. Text can be hard to read tone on too but some places out there are downright nasty. All of this to say if people want color we can give you the 80s versions of the rooms (yuck) cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.disney.com/media/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/PRV806645.jpgI even disliked the ones from around 2000 or so. cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.disney.com/media/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/PRV806647.jpg

A question, for which I don’t know if we’ll actually have an answer for until they release points charts for.
In the list of room categories for cash bookings, the only view for the 2-beds is Theme Park view. Do you think that means that all the dedicated 2-beds are TPV, or are they just maximising revenue by only using the TPV villas?
I would have been interested to have seen the cash price differential between Resort (standard) view and Theme Park view, as a guide to the likely points difference.

So. Much. Orange. Certainly unfortunate if this really does turn out to be the case since fast food places use orange as one of the colors to get people to leave... (subliminal message: Leave the Room. Go to the park. Spend money).
Maybe intentional in a new development
Cheers.

Are there three bathrooms in the dedicated two bedrooms in the new Poly tower rooms? I really like that room layout in AKL. We once spent a week in one of those with friends with three small kids. There was plenty of room for all in that configuration. I tried a quick google search and found this image on DVCnews that seems to suggest the answer is yes.

Like the layout, especially the kitchenette and the seating area. Hate the theming being so "muted".
