I just want to thank my fellow MO's for this helpful thread! Just renewed today. Quick and easy with MS. Excited for our October trip!

When renewing passes, I hope folks don't neglect to get discount UT tickets and Bridge to Gate Price. It's a bit more work, but we saved about $60 per AP this way.
Cheers.

Please forgive my ignorance as I was unaware of this for AP’s…. Our passes are up for renewal and if I understand this correctly we can buy a different pass from UT and then use it (and it’s original gate price) to buy up to an AP renewal? And does this have to happen at Guest Services at WDW or can one do this through a phone call to MS? Thanks so much!

The only important thing is to make sure that the Gate Price of what you buy is less than the price of the AP. And don't trust UT for this. The prices on their site are simply not correct and intentionally misleading (but they still do provide a savings). Look at the Disney site directly to see the price of what you're buying.
Cheers.

So you were saying we can do the upgrade over the phone prior to the trip and still get a discount? I haven't ever done this on genuinely asking. I will be buying my AP's for my kid and myself soon. Unsure about the spouse.

The first time it took a couple of transfers before I got to someone who could do it. This most recent time, the first person I spoke with just handled it. As I recall, I didn't even mention Bridging, and she just did it. I really don't expect it to be this easy each time, but they can do it on the phone, even if they need prompting.
And, as always, have all the exact figures available to double check their work.
Cheers.

It looked to me like the 10 day park hopper’s gate price was a little less than the DVC AP renewal, so I guess I’ll try that. We have almost a month to go before we can renew, but this is great information. Thanks again!

We have almost a month to go before we can renew, but this is great information. Thanks again! As long as the park ticket plus tax is less than the AP renewal plus tax, all is good. We ended up with 6-day Hoppers starting around the date we were planning to be there, even though that doesn't matter. Since one could really pick any dates and any length, the number of possibilities is, for all intents and purposes, infinite. So I just limited to our real dates and maybe lost out on a few bucks versus looking at wider range.
Cheers.

Isn't it cheaper to buy Disney gift cards at Target with the RedCard for a 5% savings and then use those gift cards to purchase tix from Disney, and then bridge to the AP?

I was doing math on discounted gift cards and I think I will do better off with a regular discount like that then trying to bridge so that's what I'm about to do for the tickets.

We saved about 6.7% on our ticket bridge so, if the GC discount is only 5%, bridging is better in this case. If one can do better than 5%, then the discounted GC can be better.
Cheers.

Also depends on current pricing of the tickets. I was looking at next year for dates we'll be there. Right now UT prices are barely there tbh like $20 max which even Sam's Club gift cards are a better deal at the moment. I'm definitely not bridging with these prices.

If you can't find a good enough deal, definitely not worth doing. I was able to find $60 each, so it was worth. All depends upon what we can find.
Cheers.
