Looks like they had a tasting at the Cake Bake Shop. Someone posted a video on youtube. They were doing "private event" tastings the entire week I was at WDW (10/12-10/17). Looks like you had to be invited and it appeared to be cast members, executives, media, influencers, etc.

I don't particularly like the white frilly stuff. Never have. I don't like people hovering over me either. Places that leave a pitcher of water are my favorite It's an eyesore and doesn't fit the Boardwalk theme. The gold lettering is gaudy. In person, I didn't think it looked bad or out of place at all. The pricing is out of place, but the building itself seemed fine.

I don't think it looks horrible, but I don't think it looks really good or completely fitting. I can't help but keep thinking it would have been better suited somewhere with the Grand Floridian.

It's not the greatest visual fit, but certainly not out of place either.

Sometimes we get jaded, all of us. So when my wife comes across something she hadn't heard of before, her opinion is interesting to me. She got on the computer for the first time in a while, and fired up Disney Food Blog as she does, and flies through there. There is an article about the new "lower priced" menu. She looks at pictures and this might be the first she's heard of this place...she said, "Why is this at the Boardwalk? That's stupid, it should be at Grand Floridian."

Somewhere between. Just placed in the wrong spot. Sometimes we get jaded, all of us. So when my wife comes across something she hadn't heard of before, her opinion is interesting to me. Yep, all a little jaded here, but love what your wife had to share!

Cake Bake interior looks very posh! The decor looks way to elegant for its location on the Boardwalk. In fact, I don't think it belongs anywhere within today's Disney World. Of course, this is just my opinion.....others may feel otherwise.

I agree for sure. This location should have been a quick service. It's a boardwalk after all. If I want sit-down I'll go to Flying Fish or Trattoria. Don't see why we want to put another sit-down restaurant / a fancy one at that, right as the last thing you pass on the way to Epcot. Coffee, high quality hand-holdable food, fast service. Everybody would stop here on their way to and from Epcot.

I am looking forward to a nicer option on the Boardwalk. I often stay and don’t visit a park, so if I can walk to CBS and have a nice meal or snack I welcome them. Beaches and cream is so tough to get also so you cant just walk over there without a reservation. Hopefully they do something more fitting with BRG space that balances the Boardwalk out. It’s vacation cake. I wont spend it everyday but it has its place if you eat cake.

Also, this place better watch out when those quinceanera parties show up at WDW, or the cheerleading competitions, etc, I can see this place being packed with groups of dressed-up young ladies.

What's the over/under on this lasting more than 2 years? I don't mind the sit down aspect. I don't mind the fanciness. I don't think the building is some sort of eyesore. I just wonder how many people will pay these prices with Epcot literally right next door. Yes, it is vacation cake. But you can just go into Epcot and buy your favorite dessert along the World Showcase. Will I buy a piece of cake? Maybe. It it gets gushing reviews, I will be tempted to try it once.

You can just walk there and get a dining reservation. Do I think this wilk be popular? Probably. So getting Cake Bake reservations might be tough. Why do I think it's going to be popular? Princess lovers are everywhere.

It's super popular. It's something *I* don't understand but even some of my friends who do Disney are excited for this. And we live like 2-2.5 hours from the other one that they adore. It's like the American Girl Doll lunch craze that went on. Again, I don't get it, but I'm not discounting this. Dropping the prices to be more in line with Indy costs will help people want to do a frilly lunch or meal. Especially since afternoon tea is not available. Some people want that frilly bougie experience. Not my cup of tea (yes intentional) but people like what they like.

I have to keep reminding myself how close the BoardWalk Wedding Gazebo is to this location and walking past or seeing the ceremony from the Friendship Boats … I really love to have that vision and maybe it will be very popular . If you wanted something extra special for a wedding party before or after this would be perfect . Maybe they will include the violinist on Sundays for your reservation .
