We are circling around to trips with the grandkids. My September family trip has now been circumvented by my daughter in laws new pregnancy. So I’m gonna be another grandma ( this one will be #4). While our vacations have changed these few years, along with the changes with Disney, we are not ready to give up our DVC. We are now going to have to wait a couple more years to get all the grand kids to Disney ( thank goodness for Saratoga Springs! We will be needing a two bedroom for 8). But we will get back before then. We already are getting that excitement back. Taking a break really does bring the magic back. So very happy for you and your family! I hope you will have a great trip as a family when you head back. And what Tom said is so true! Even an our family in the 20 years of owning, we've gone from being Dinks, having a newborn and little one through now having a teenager, inviting friends along on these trips, and knowing the next couple of years everything will change again. It's why I didn't go hog wild on buying more Polynesian points. I really don't know where we'll need. I do think our OKW might be going sooner than later though, but I'm not rushing to do that because I don't know what is going to happen.

When we first bought, it was for the five of us. After a few years, extended family was joining us often. Then the kids all got old, graduated high school and out trips became solo adventures....occasionally with our adult friends. One day....Aiden happened, two years later Danny...the kids had significant others. We still travel with extended family and friends. But our family only trips require either two studios and a 1 bedroom, or a studio & 2 bedroom, or a grand villa.
We don't have to treat, but we do. We make the Disney Magic happen, but we get a lot out of it by sharing it with them.

It's just wife and I, but we recently upgraded to 1-bedroom (and there's no going back) and we took my mom last year (in her own studio) and now she wants to go again. So our vacations have changed, too...we don't have enough points anymore for this new vacation lifestyle. We were shopping for another contract but the OKW dues are becoming a problem. I mean, it "only" went up 2 or 3 hundred bucks but when we are looking at three grand a year, it's hard to want to make it five grand a year. Purchase price is one thing, but the dues are giving us pause. Right now we just decided to go every 18 months or whatever instead of every 12.

Of course it’s almost always only me (with a lady friend every once in a long while), almost always in a studio or 1-bedroom if studio availability is nonexistent and/or if I desire more space.
