I hate the glass top too. Yeah I don't like those glass tops; I'd rather have the old-school coils tbh

That sounds really fun! We have an LG washer & dryer we got when our died 15 years ago. Love them. I love Samsung for electronics. I just will not use them for appliances. Friend had a Samsung range (I think all electric) catch fire and destroy the microwave too. Not really jumping for them. I do know some who had fridges who loved them. I'll be the first in line to upgrade my phone, tablet and watch and buy TVs but that's about it with them (I do love the Watch 6 - enough I got one for my 15yo) That does not make me feel warm and fuzzy. Our Samsung range is almost 3 years old. We didn't have a lot of choices due to Covid and how our kitchen is designed. Our JennAir died 3 weeks before our daughters wedding. Which was at our house, due to Covid. The JennAir just started to hum and then sparks started coming out of the oven . Very scary. It was pretty old though. It was here when we bought the house. Friends of ours had a Samsung range and they just replaced it. They kept having issues the the electronics board. The electronic board was what shorted out. I've seen older threads about it elsewhere r1.community.samsung.com/t5/others/ne59j7630ss-ac-control-panel-fire/td-p/8550715Friend wasn't home when it happened so they had more damage than some but all repaired not to make you feel awful or anything, but I won't do Samsung appliances.

Glad you were able to get a refund on your refrigerator. There are threads all over about Samsung appliances. It’s a shame, people spend good money only to have issues. They just should not be in the appliance business.

They just should not be in the appliance business. I have a friend who looked into this issue of complaints and did a bunch of research (he's retired, and just like that ). He found that, for most major brands, there is about the same percentage of complaints overall and things are very much the same.
We had a prior Samsung fridge that had some issues. I was able to find discussions about that very issue, on this model. This was the only issue we had. Other models had much better reviews. They make really a lot of fridge models.
We did take a chance on another Samsung. Looked for issues and such, especially this one, and found very positive reviews. And the unit has been great.
So, I don't agree that Samsung should be out of the appliance business. Yes, it would be better if performance were consistent across the board on all models, but this means that research is required. I'm willing to do that research and not be dissuaded by a small percentage of complaints.
With that said, there are appliance brands with better reputations across the board. Bosch is very highly rated. We looked at one, but it would not fir the opening (this has maybe 0.5" clearance from an overhang. The one had just the features we wanted and was priced significantly lower. I'm willing to trade research time for money.
Cheers.

So, I was just booking some park reservations and noticed that the 15 year old non-expiring Hoppers that we have are missing some days. We used 3 days back then and have had APs ever since. So, we have 7 days (and all 10 water park days) remaining. But now I see 4. So, these clearly were used for park access for 3 days on a recent trip. I've done this before, and I have to call again to get them to restore the days. Sigh... Cheers. I just called the ticket people. They have fixed this issue previously when days were accidentally used from the non-expiring Hoppers. After a wait, he indicated that the phone folks actually can't do this now, and suggested the GS folks at IG. I'm surprised that they were not able to fix this, but I've dealt with the folks at IG a fair number of times and they certainly are able to work magic.
Not a big deal to wait a few weeks until our next trip. Just surprising.
Cheers.

The issue with water ending up in the fridge, was not a few complaints. It was a major issue that had lawyers involved. Many groups formed all dealing with the same issue. The biggest issue was it was not fixable. That’s why many received a full refund others some compensation, guess depending how hard they fought and followed up. The percentage may look different if it did not include all Samsung appliances but specifically the models that were affected by the issue. Which was the split door top fridge bottom freezer.

Thanks for the info. Both of our Samsung fridges have been French (split) door bottom freezer models and we did not have this issue. The initial unit had issues with ice build-up on the cooling unit. The new unit is the same with a mid drawer, and no issues so far.
So, it seems that some range of models over some time period had a consistent design flaw that involved real compensation. I'm not sure of the timeframe of that issue range (even different models would share designs), but I hope the cost of compensating this resulted in an improved design.
Certainly advantages to going with a manufacturer with a better overall reputation. We're rolling the dice on a second Samsung based on reviews. If anything goes awry with this one, there will not be a third
Cheers.

Freaking Monday once again. Bah humbug.
Ugh on all the appliance issues, hopefully resolved as soon as possible. And as cheaply as possible.
Ugh on the ticketing issues as well.

Actually, the ticketing issues are fine. I called a different option about a different issue and he saw the notes about this. Even though that number was supposed to be only for AP issues, he fixed this one as well. Gave high marks on the survey!
Cheers.

They just should not be in the appliance business. It seems to be luck of the draw I think for Samsung. Lots of people I know love them though. It's a total love/hate it seems too. Either lots of issues or not. Glad you were able to get a refund on your refrigerator. There are threads all over about Samsung appliances. It’s a shame, people spend good money only to have issues. The percentage of repairs per brand does vary a lot so not sure I could agree with that statement. That comes from ones who track repairs and such. Even when I search to see if other brands have this issue, I didn't see much. Samsung repeatedly. I don't agree they should necessarily be out of the appliance business, but I also will not be one to buy them. I do hope your ticket issues are easily resolved though when you are there in person.

Mine started out small and I thought hmm, the vegetables are holding and giving off moisture. Hmm, did something leak. It just continued to get worse where, I had the fruit bin and veggie bin swimming in water. Had to throw out everything. That’s when my husband did a search and found it was a major issue. But I was out of warranty, and did not have the energy to go at Samsungs Corporate in NJ. We were prepping, staging to sell so we replaced. Hopefully as they knew of the defect they changed the design malfunction. After we moved, and we bought a Bosch, we were in HD and pass this beautiful refrigerator. The outside is a glass opaque finish, the one in the store was white, so pretty and would blend right in with my white cabinets, seamlessly. Of course, I just bought a new refrigerator as my husband is looking, then I see it’s a Samsung. No even if I wanted to be frivolous and replace. Not after my experience. I hope you have good luck and no issues

Regarding appliance brands: some know this already but a lot of the consumer public don't do any self-education. Many brands like we all know such as Maytag, Kenmore etc (just using names) have their appliances made for them. Very common manufacturers are Samsung and LG, has been for years. For a dozen years Sears sold wildly-successful Kenmore vacuums that were made by Panasonic. (Side note: During the sunset-years of Sears, they stopped having the vacuums made by Panasonic and went with ?? and the quality was never anywhere near.)
At my in-law's house, when they bought the house it came with a standard over-the-range microwave, I forgot what brand but it's one of the American brands, Kenmore Maytag who knows. Let's just say that thing gets put through the ringer all day every day. Heavy use. One day, somebody slammed the door one too many times and the plastic arms that hold the door latched shut broke. They called me because I fix stuff. I do my research, find the part, guess who makes that microwave? Samsung. Microwave still going, I used it yesterday. My only beef with it is the turntable doesn't go around exactly once in exactly ten seconds like the one I have. Which means when I put a mug of coffee in for 30 or 60 seconds, when it stops the mug handle is not facing where my hand would easily grab it.

That is true, we had years ago a Kennmore fridge it was made by whirlpool, same with our washer and dryer. That was back 30 plus years ago when things lasted. IKEA appliances are the same. We replaced our dishwasher and I went with IKEA because I knew it was made by whirlpool plus I could get a cabinet cover that blended in for $100 vs the other brands that the option was a few hundred more.
