I kind of thought this was coming. DVC has raised one time use points to $22 per point. You can still get 24 points per use year.

The email says on Feb 16 the price of OTU points will increase but the email was sent on Feb 16 after they already went up so it should say effective today, Feb 16, the price of OTU points has increased... It's not like we're getting advance notice of something. Still, $22 for an occasional necessary point is fine.

The fee appears to be following the current rental rates through brokers. I still like the option to get the OTU points, just wish they would include it to happen at the 11 month mark, not just at 7 months.

I'm glad I just maxed out my 2022/23 allotment yesterday instead of borrowing points for an upcoming stay. Now my experience yesterday makes more sense: I called in as soon as MS opened and got through right away, but was on the phone for 45 minutes trying to get my reservation confirmed using a combination of my own points and OTUP. Eventually, the CM told me the room was on hold but they couldn't sell me the OTUP points because there was an issue with the system and she would call me back when it was resolved, saying it was likely going to be the next day. I was pleasantly surprised when the same CM called yesterday afternoon, and when it came time for purchasing the OTUP, she quoted the wrong amount initially. Once the CM and I were connected to the team that actually can sell the OTUP (don't get me started on that whole "upgrade" to service), the CM acknowledged she was in error with the price (now I know she was quoting based on the $22). I purchased at $19, but clearly the system was already turning over at that point.

+$3 per OTUP. I was surprised they stayed $19 for as long as they did. Just another reason not to give your points away on the marketplace. Maybe they are adding the ability to purchase online! Yes, I smoke pixie dust! 😆

I was thinking the same thing. Might as well say, “Effective Immediately”.

Same with me... why not just day effective immediately. Not like we can buy online.

Cheers.

My sarcastic guesses on why they didn't go with "effective immediately": - They originally intended to send the email out on the 15th or prior but then someone realized last-minute that MS would get buried in calls from people trying to get that OTUP purchase in before the price increase so they held the email and didn't revise the wording. Or...
- The email was drafted and scheduled to go out the evening of the 15th and with Disney IT at its finest, it didn't actually get sent until this morning.
My less sarcastic guess is that, from a legal standpoint, since email delivery can be delayed by servers for technical or spam/security filtering issues, they really intended it to go out this morning and have to put an effective date as a CYA in case someone doesn't get the email on time and complains they had to pay $22 on the 16th when the email they received on the 17th says "effective immediately" so they should have gotten those OTUPs for $19. I use and sort our email by the "Date Sent" field instead of "Date Received" and have occasionally seen legitimate messages not reach us for days after they're sent; no idea if it was the Spectrum servers or the sending server or somewhere in between (we have no spam or other filters set up, either on the server or in our mail app).

I am okay with the price increase. Wish they would have given a small gift with the price change and increased the allowed amount to purchase a little bit. Maybe to 26-30. Have looked to use OTUP twice and both times was still 2-3 points shy so instead bought transfer points.

It's been so long since I used OTU points I thought there were $15 pp. Isn't inflation fun? Other than being slightly annoying as one more price increase, probably this helps owners by setting a floor for rental points. That's not so bad.

So if you need 24 points it's an extra $72 more than yesterday. Not a deal breaker for us.

We never needed to use the OTUP but was always aware that they were available. I’m just happy they still offer them. Price is still reasonable considering the price of direct points.

Been buying them four years in a row. Debated buying another small contract but this kept me going. Now I am really over borrowed and probably need another contract. With falling resale, this might be the push.
