As "evidence" of my "they're really messing with me"...we booked two nights at Pop Century; we had a rental car and were arriving late, so I did a TP room request for a room in the 50's, close to the parking lot. When I got the "room ready" text, the room was in the 80's, as far from the 50's as possible. Before we entered the 80's room, we went to the front desk and asked if they had anything in the 50's. They did, and moved us there. So it felt like they could have put us in the 50's and didn't.
And FWIW, those 50's rooms are a five minute walk to/from the Skyliner. I like the location.

We got exactly what we wanted using Touring Plans at Christmas for OKW. It was a cash stay through the U.K. / International site so couldn’t use Member Services anyway.
Then for BLT I just called Member Services and again, got exactly what we wanted. Actually we got an upgrade. We had a standard 2-bed booked and I just said I’d like a view over Bay Lake. When we saw the room on the app it was on the 9th floor, which is lake view.

I only requested upper floor/4th/5th floor since I knew these were the only floors refurbished for now. I did get one on the 4th floor - happy camper.

Thanks for the info! I am going to try that for our trip next month. We'll be at SSR and the online check-in options have changed since the last time we stayed there. It used to let you select Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, near bus stop or near pool. They took out Paddock and Carousel and replaced it with near Carriage House. I really want to request Paddock. We like that area a lot. I do like Paddock as well. I was hoping Grandstand or Paddock when I booked but traveling together was more important. When I had booked it was going to be just me and my son and then my dad decided to join so we needed another room. Even a 1 bedroom wouldn't give me the space and such I wanted, so I was grateful that they did so well given us traveling together. We have another trip coming up and so far I have no requests (CCV). I'm not sure I have any real requests anyway. The only request I would make at CCV is “ far away from the elevator”.

I've had good luck with the chat feature on the DVC member site. I used to use Touring Plans as well, but stopped when my friend (who was a Disney travel agent) stopped paying for the premium version 😂

We were by the one bank part way down in 5120 and had no issues with noise honestly. I almost would request that room again but unsure I want the exact same room lol. Being in a 2 bedroom most are not near the other bank IIRC. There is only 1 2 bedroom on the 1st floor. Most are higher up and in the longer edge of the wing anyway. I could say we love higher floors but surprise us LOL

Thanks! This is very helpful.
I use TP room request on every trip but it has been mostly ineffective for a while now. I have a feeling that DVC receives so many of these that they treat them like fax spam.
I'll try doing a request through the "Contact" page on the DVC website for our next trip.

I usually call but would prefer to just email. What email do you use? Oops missed this as I was in a zoom last night. I also use the contact us form. They have a drop down for current reservations. I've wondered if they just toss em at this point. Not to disparage TP I just won't use them for that specifically

We call about 10 days before and make the requests we want. Has worked very well for us.

I agree, the room request through TP is useless. Our trip last fall to Riviera we didn’t make any requests and ended up okay but there are some resorts we have preferences, if possible.

Thanks for the tip!! We usually don't make requests before hand, but last time, used chat on DVC, and got the opposite. We have a tentative stay booked in early June for SSR....haven't stayed there since our first DVC stay in 2011, but this will likely be a resort stay, Not sure what to request. (currently no park tickets, so want easy access to DS, but if something changes, would want the best bus stop location, ) What room type are you booked for? We were in Paddock by the bus stop for carousel which was great. Husband missed a bus there but could make it on the same bus at Springs. Congress Park is preferred and closest to DS. We'll be back in early June as well. Hey Thanks!!!. we are tentatively booked for June 4-10, preferred room. Original trip plans were the week of Memorial Day, often do that to save taking that 8 hours of vacation due to Mem Day holiday, and sometimes beat the crowds, but this year, decided to go a little later. Currently, this will be resort only trip, but we are plannning on doing Universal for a couple days either at the beginning or end. Still haven't decided (I am terrible about procrastinating.) Since it'll likely be just resort, booked a 2 bedroom to use points, and hope to be as close to Disney spring as possible. If something crazy happens, like Disney starts AP sales, that will change our plans.....then we'd want to be by the best bus stop, if we have to stay at SSR. Gotta admit, SSR has never been at the top of list for resorts, and it felt weird choosing it over other available resorts....but just as resort only, we think it'll be good. Thanks for any suggestions. We do plan to try room request via email now. Thanks. I've heard of Touring Plans here; never looked at it. Cheers. I use them for other info, just now officially done with room requests from them.

Thanks for any suggestions. We do plan to try room request via email now. I've done a lot of traveling Memorial Day and into the first week or so of June. I actually avoid Memorial Day now due to crowds. There is a drop off that Tues/Weds of Memorial day until the end of the 1st week of June so your early dates should be better and then it might be picking up towards the end. We're there May 31 through June 7th. Definitely request Congress Park then as that's the closest to DS. Though if you get Springs, I walked from my 4xxx room and was fine. I think honestly SSR has a lot to offer and is a fantastic stand alone resort. Having DS right there is so nice. The community hall is the biggest I've seen and activities are also plentiful. The QS is probably the best we have had for Disney. My dad's last stay in the area was 1983 in a fairview villa (now where SSR is). He thought it was nice. Thumbs up from my son and spouse too. But for a park heavy trip it isn't my favorite but not awful.
