Personally, I think I rather have $1000 stipend, in state resident passes are cheaper than that so they can purchase that and then have extra cash. Losing a perk is lousy, though it is true about perks and public employees. Though many businesses offer discounts to first responders some will offer a free pizza. It’s a fine line because technically it’s not allowed.

The board decided that they'd rather give the money directly to the employees instead passing it through WDW.

Though I rarely buy much as compared to years ago. I think a still have enough Disney Merchandise to set up a kiosk.

Just as an FYI I renamed this thread to keep it to news and not politics. Check the debate board - which no threads for there will show at the top of the main page - for DeSantis talk. I just looked at this comment again. Since the debate board threads don't "show at the top of the main page" does that also mean that new threads with new posts there won't show up from a "New Posts" search? If this is the case, is it possible to have that forum included for New Posts since that's the only way some of us will know if something is going on there? Also make it easier to keep things confined there.
Edit: Now it does seem to show up. maybe it didn't because the other posts were moved there and not really new. I will reserve political stuff for there going forward
This is just for the news about the RCID, the lawsuits and, apparently, cruising...
Cheers.

Is it one time, or is it annual? if one time, then a definite downgrade. if truly annual, then maybe not.
Cheers.

If it’s one time, then yes it’s a down grade if it’s yearly that’s different.

I keep seeing posts about how some would rather have the money. From what I understand, and maybe I’m wrong, but I thought it was annual passes for the employee and family. Thinking that would run a lot higher than $1000 a year if you got a few kiddos. They were all hired to squeeze Disney in as many ways as possible so they’ll quit having gay characters in their cartoons. They’ve said as much. At least it seems that way to me.

They were all hired to squeeze Disney in as many ways as possible so they’ll quit having gay characters in their cartoons. They’ve said as much. At least it seems that way to me. In (possible) fairness to the board members (and I really don't think much of their competence, but I believe in trying to be fair), it seems less likely that they would victimize the fire fighters as they are not Disney. if this is annual, it could be more of a "we'll give them the equivalent money and, see, many of them don't spend on Disney." In that case, the fire fighters would be reasonably whole and it would be another dig a Disney. And this is what they were hired to do, after all.
So, maybe they're playing fair by the fire fighters at the expense of a Disney dig. But, frankly, what they wrote (which is what the article quotes) is worded so poorly that it's not clear what they mean. And points back to their competence level.
Cheers.

Well sending a bill for $500,000 dollars I’m sure hastened the decision.

I have no doubt that the new board is very much interested in eliminating as much as the self-dealing aspects of WDW's relationship with the old board. For this perk, they seemed to have decided to stop giving the money directly to WDW (in exchange for the perks) and instead, give it to directly to the employees and let them decide if they want to give it back to WDW.

It should not show in the "shoutbox" at the top of the main page with 10 newest threads. Thread drifts are inevitable. As long as it isn't a political debate those won't be moderated

I have double checked and the threads do not show at the top of the webpage. They can show elsewhere though. Like clicking on new posts or threads. I do not want these showing at the top but I cannot fix teh others. So please be mindful when you post, look at the thread titles.

This one shows when I click on the forum as recent threads. Were there two different but similar threads at one point? I thought they were one and the same. I remember you saying you were moving it and creating a debate board. Then the other (can’t figure if they are the same) would disappear unless one looked for it. Then it seems it would appear on most recents, if someone posted a link. I have no clue.🤔 I can’t even multi quote!😢

If you click on the new threads etc yes, but not at the top. The debate board exists under the Community Hall. All threads have *Debate* in the title now. This one has News. I cannot remove them from everywhere so this is the best I can do. I suggest you not look at recent posts if you are unsure where a post may belong. To multi quote you click the multi quote button for each post you want and then reply to the thread or hit the last person you want to quote with the quote button.
