Please ignore the previous post under my name. Apparently I'm unable to master even "multi-quote," as the posts I was trying to reference aren't even the posts I thought I had flagged; and I couldn't type a response to anything, in any case. I don't guess I'll attempt posting images. I hate not being able to do stuff, but not as much as I hate having to try to learn how to do new stuff.
I wanted to thank Wiltony for restoring me to larger accommodations, and to thank Dan for welcoming me back to the fold.

I'm knee deep in doing tickets, costumes, make up, sets and a slew of other things for the high school show so I'll be able to work on it in a few weeks. I gotta stop volunteering myself for this stuff. Keeps me from fun things like chatting with you all!

I'm knee deep in doing tickets, costumes, make up, sets and a slew of other things for the high school show I was going to ask "is it a dance recital?" and then I realized that you said "high school." My mom taught tap dance so I was involved in backstage "operations" for a number of years of the studio's annual recital at the end of the year. Basically just music and lights, and sometimes helping get the "next next" group lined up, running around with a drive-through headset, and other shenanigans.

I was heavily involved at the middle school level to the point I was asked to do costumes this fall again. My kid is not in middle school either. It was Newsies and we had a cast over 100 kids in the show but I got it done and properly trained for next year. Out costumes person last year failed to do it. Right after that wrapped up, we started the middle school show. Cutthroat and out of 90 who auditioned, 60 made it. I've been running the website, helped with tickets (setting up the online sales), make up, costumes and now sets. Complicated due to it being Beauty and the Beast. Kid is a featured ensemble (small solo and speaking part) and the dog ottoman. Show runs mid Feb. I'll breathe then

HS's annual broadway style musical. Wow our middle- and high-schools did nothing like that, as I recall. That was quite some time ago; maybe things have changed Maybe I was just tuned out of it because I was a math and science nerd Or maybe I'm just lazy and tuned out of everything

Middle school we had the 'Junior' or shortened versions of shows. I did Music Man, Annie and then a medley of broadway scenes/shows. High school we did the full shows every other year. I did Bye Bye Birdie and then South Pacific. My kid has done Mary Poppins, Frozen (severely shortened and crazy ways of recording due to covid) and then Matilda in middle school. He won't do this as an adult except if for fun. He just has a good raw talent and energy to get him enjoying it. He helped as a HS helper for the middle school show as I did the costumes. Then in this show. He's not competitive at all so this is a good thing to do outside band. He is in advanced math and science as well so he does it all

Since it's Friday, I thought we'd have some fun, so I went outside, it feels like ten degrees, I fired up the backpack leaf blower and used it to clean the new and drifted snow from the path out to the hot-tub yeah! Be out there later. Hopefully. It's not too windy at the moment so it should work out. Upsides to backpack blower: it's fast and it's kinda fun. Nobody in the neighborhood has one. Downsides: by the time I get it out and fuel it and start it and get it on my back, not to mention put it away, it maybe isn't faster than the shovel. And I get snow all over me like the abominable snowman. But it could be faster than the shovel; I did some of my driveway too.

I’ve used our blower to move snow before as well. The problem I find is that when the snow is swirling around, I have gotten zapped by the blower! We had a hot tub for 20 years, but it died 2 years ago. With our talk of moving after we retire in a few years, I’m having trouble spending good money for something I won’t keep. We definitely miss it in the winter time though. We have a slider from our bedroom right onto the deck, where the tub sat.

The problem I find is that when the snow is swirling around, I have gotten zapped by the blower! Uh oh! I have not had this happen yet but I've heard of it. I wonder if it's from wearing gloves? My handheld blower has a metal piece in the handle to ground your skin to the blower, or something, so apparently charges don't build up...I dunno. I use it with gloves when it's cold and it hasn't got me yet but I'll have to watch out. We had a hot tub for 20 years, but it died 2 years ago. This makes me sad for you. I know what it's like to miss the hot tub heh. Mine is a 1990 model I got in a trade for almost nothing, and moved it and placed it and wired it myself, then over the years basically I have replaced almost all the plumbing you can reach, the heater more than once, and both pumps. Oh and repaired a couple leaks. The second leak (plural) was a couple years ago, I didn't get all the water vacuumed out of a part and it froze and cracked. The epoxy is still holding. But suddenly I remembered when I got the thing, it must have been nearly 15 years ago, I had the thing sitting on a junk snowmobile trailer in my driveway and water leaked around that lens where the light is, to make your nighttime hottub sessions all glowy and romantic...I never use it but it's there, it's just a piece of white plexiglass now. It's time for another new lid, though, that's the problem isn't it. We were talking last night and decided that since I've pretty much replaced and rewired everything, it should last another however many years I can squeeze out of a new lid. Now, if only those lids weren't so damn expensive

Big change for me coming up. This week is my last week to work. I am retiring on Feb 3 after 28 years at my current job. I am both very excited to have my time to totally be my own and also very anxious to no longer have a steady income from an employer and the loss of my benefits (fully employer paid for all medical, dental, vision, life, LTC, etc. Is it weird to be excited to be able to go to the grocery store and Costco whenever you want and not mostly on weekends?
I am most excited to now be able to go to WDW without having to schedule around payroll, end of month, etc.

Is it weird to be excited to be able to go to the grocery store and Costco whenever you want and not mostly on weekends? I guess you could call me "retired" and before this I was a school bus driver which meant I was done at 9am. It is a game-changer, as far as I'm concerned, to be able to go to Walmart etc at 7:30 in the morning: it is nice and quiet and not the madhouse with long lines one finds when you go "after work" or especially on weekends. Every once in a while I'll need to go to Target on a Sunday and I get there and I'm always shocked at how packed the parking lot is, then I remember it's not 7:30 in the morning. At that time, I can usually park right up front and there are no lines. Downside: sometimes the people stocking the shelves are kind of in my way. Or sometimes they haven't stocked a particular item yet, especially like a Monday morning when the certain truck hasn't been in with the eggs or whatever.

the loss of my benefits (fully employer paid for all medical, dental, vision, life, LTC, etc.) Impressive benefits. My wife works at a large hospital that is known for having great benefits, and they are certainly not as good as what you list. I guess 20 years ago, people say they basically paid for anything medical. My dad had a long career at IBM and back in the day, they basically paid everything, along with giving bonuses in IBM stock which worked out pretty well.

It'll be wonderful. and the idea of planning an Orlando trip ANY time of the year sounds SO great!!! wow full paid med/dental etc would be great. We are both govt workers, and always thought we had good benefits, but we still pay a hefty premium for insurance. Enjoy this wonderful new chapter. Lots of great movie/tv suggestions on that thread if you're looking for that kind of 'activity,' Be careful not to get too addicted to youtube too. Ha.
