DH is wanting to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour on our upcoming June trip, if we can figure out timing. Kids will finally be old enough, DS will be 16, and DH wants to do this as a family. I would like to do it too, but was wondering if it's worth the time. We are looking for some things to do that are different, and DH is REALLY wanting to do this. Has been for years. Without too many spoilers, is it interesting? where is lunch, or does that vary? Any recent opinions on it? The day he's looking at is our transition day, where we'll move from BWV to AKL, Normally, not too much of an issue, but we'll have likely been out late the night before for EEH at MK. I think we'll be pretty tired. Tour starts at 9:00 AM. I think there were also spots the following day, which I'd rather do. Anyway, just looking for any experiences/opinions on it. Thanks!! Lil

I think it is worth the time and am counting the days for my 15yo to be able to go. Mine was too long ago to answer lunch. Just be aware June is getting very booked up for tours/events. Even Behind the Seeds is more booked than I expected! I'm sure you noticed but I would book asap and decide later lol.

Lil It has been a very long time (20 years) since I did the tour, so I don't know how relevant my response is, but I can say that I thought it was interesting and worth doing. At the time I did it, lunch was at Columbia Harbor House. They had a seating section upstairs roped off for our group. I've actually been thinking about doing it again as it was so many years ago and I wasn't with DH at the time. I think he would really enjoy it.

Ever tour we have taken, has been worth it to us. Some of the tours are better then others, but all give you insights that you would not experience or see on your own. Disney lovers appreciate the tours more so than casual Disney guests. Mid-Afternoon tours can get hot during the summer. I say do it.....I think its worth going on at least once. The back stories and behind the scenes stuff is interesting.

The answer to your question “is KTTK interesting” depends on whether you find background information about MK interesting.
I found it full of information. All those windows on Main Street for example, who were they all? And I would never have noticed the carved animals in Adventureland without having done the tour. And so on.
And then getting to see some of the backstage areas, the floats close up, watching a dance rehearsal for the parade etc.
I’d do it again in a heartbeat but sadly they don’t run them over the really busy times like Christmas and New Year, otherwise I was going to book it for our last trip.

DD is a mega Disney fan; she makes me look like I don't have a problem. She loved it. I really believe DS would have as well. The boys went to Universal. DH goes with the flow. Our family Segway tour was the #1 thing we have ever done, followed by the Sunrise Safari even though we had to get up at some ridiculous hour. (Both are gone now. Sunrise in its old form.) We ate at Columbia Harbor House. I have no idea if it is still there for lunch. Being tired: I didn't get a wink of sleep the night before and did okay. Not the best idea, but I was younger then!

We did this tour March 2022. It was fantastic. Well worth the money. We ate at Pecos Bills - they had an area roped off, and lunch was waiting when we arrived, with everyone's name at their plate (we chose before leaving that morning).
I found all of the information to be worth the time, and seeing the backstage stuff was fascinating.
5 stars, would recommend

Just as an FYI Ft Wilderness has the trail Segway Tour. I have done both more than once and I loved the Ft Wilderness one more. Another I'm counting days until my kid can do!

We did the KTTK Tour in 2016 as a birthday gift for our DD. That's what she wanted for her Sweet 16. Our family enjoyed the tour very much! We were lucky to have a knowledgeable and engaging guide. We have some fabulous pictures on Main Street USA that we took before the crowds arrived, since we took a very early tour. It was such fun to enter secret doors into backstage areas! The looks on other people's faces when we just emerged from a nondescript door was pretty priceless! Our lunch was at Cosmic Ray's in a sectioned off area and was ready when we arrived. 10/10 IMHO! We will likely do it again sometime, as I'm sure there's always new things to see and learn.

Oh! And as far as time commitment, I felt it was quite efficient. With lunch already ready and quick bathroom stops, there was little down time. Without spoilers, you will get a few rides in, too!

I’ll chime in as well even though it’s been many years since we did it. We loved it and have recommended it many times.
