Would really like opinions about staying at SSR without a car. Planning for a May 2025 trip taking my son’s family to WDW. We have never stayed at SSR. What is the best building for a standard view two bedroom? Is it possible to stay there without a car? How does one get their luggage over to the room from the checkin area at SSR? Any advice at all about SSR would be appreciated ( pros and cons welcome!).

Yes, we have stayed at ssr without a car over new years. They use golf carts to move your luggage from the carriage house to your room. I usually opt for preferred for the springs but with standard I like paddock pool area for the pool ( which is just as good as main pool but not as crowded imo) and proximity / easy walk to disney springs. Avoid carousel - far from everything and no private pool.

Any advice at all about SSR would be appreciated ( pros and cons welcome!). Yes, you can stay there without a car. We like SSR a lot. We like Grandstand and Paddock sections. Grandstand Section: - First bus stop
- Short walk to the Carriage House (check in, Artist Palette, Turf Club)
- View of ponds/golf course
- Quiet pool, hot tub and small counter serve.
Paddock Section: - Third bus stop
- Longer walk to Carriage House. But not bad.
- Pool with slide, hot tub, counter serve grill
- Views of lake
There are 5 bus stops: Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, Congress Park, Springs.
Grandstand, Carousel and Paddock are standard views. Carousel seems the farthest away. and no pool there.
There is a boat from the Carriage House to Disney Springs. If you are at the Grandstand, it's quite a walk to Disney Springs. Better to take the boat.
Luggage Services will take your luggage to your room from checkin.

Yes, we have stayed without a car. We like Congress Park. We enjoy the short walk to and view of Disney Springs. The few times we have stayed there, it was almost as though we had our own private bus stop….meaning on departure, the busses entered from the service road, u-turned to Congress Park and then exited the resort to our destination. On the return trip, we had to go through all the stops.
I don’t think you need a car. The first time there, we had a car and only used it to get to another resort for dinner. Could have just as easily ubered. The walk to the Carriage House is a long one. However, we were never denied when we asked a golf cart driver (cast member) for a lift.

When ME was available I never rented cars and stayed at SSR often. The Bell service staff is awesome and if they spot you walking, they will offer rides or you can arrange formally at their podium. Once i did end up in Carousel due to flight cancellations and return to SSR, and they were more than helpful even after 11 pm. It actually wasn’t bad, very nice courtyard view and close walk to Paddock amenities Grill, pool and laundry.

I am planning this trip for Sept 2025. With the amount of grandkids that are going ( 11, 4, 2 at the time of the trip) I am thinking SSR would be fine. Or should I consider BWV standard 2-bedroom? Just wonder how the little ones are gonna take the bus rides?
Thanks for all your help! First time doing this grandparent trip!

Stayed there in Jan with a split stay. We had a preferred room not sure which section thinking Grandstand? We had a garden view and there was a water feature. We walked across the street from the Carriage house and it was a building behind the parking lot across from the laundry area etc. so a less than 5 minute walk. We did not use the pool we were there only 2 days. We went into DS and Epcot while there. Was nice but not my fav because I do not like the big resorts overall. I am unfamiliar with SSR, so maybe I would over time. I do like OKW near HH though feels very homey there to me.

Since you will have the grandkids with you I would book Paddock Pool - we usually ask for a pool view room when we stay there:) Paddock is a little walk to the Carriage house (main building) but not too bad. Walk from Paddock to main building is probably no further than BCV rooms to the Marketplace.

Tough call between SSR and BWV. Are you booking a two-bedroom, three - bedroom or separate studios? I like both resorts, but lean towards BWV because I love the epcot resort area, and the BW community hall. The plus of SSR is once you are at the resort you don't feel the need to go into a park. I feel if you are staying at BC or BW - you always feel like you have to go to the park. I think SSR is more relaxing. Are you thinking of a three bedroom at SSR? If considering 3 bed at SSR vs 2 bed at BW I would go with the 3 bedroom unit at SSR:) If both two bed units - I lean towards BWV

Considering the fact that you will have the grandkids in tow, (and no car), I definitely recommend BWV for the simple reason that you will have access to 2 parks with no buses.

One more quick thought....if you are not planning on going into the park everyday - then I would go with SSR. Explore disney springs, mini golf with the grandkids, bowling, movie night. If plans are to do a park every day, then BW more convenient for all. We have found when we stay at SSR we don't feel the need to go into the park every day. I have found the bus service at SSR to be pretty good. If you have never stayed there, the vibe is definitely different than the epcot resorts. I feel it is much more relaxing.

I agree about access to 2 parks but be aware that there are no dedicated 2 bedrooms at BWV, the 2nd bedrooms are all studio lock-offs. For comfort I recommend anywhere but BWV. SSR is a great resort with or without a car.

As I will be renting from an owner, I was hoping to keep the price down a little booking SSR. But no doubt BWV has the location. Would be looking at a standard view at both BWV and SSR but I know it’s much much harder to get that standard two bedroom. So for now, I am starting to save so that next Sept 2024 I can book with an owner. I know I am really a planner! But I am gifting them this trip so I need time to save!!
