We are staying at the BCV, but BC quicker service is meh imo. I really miss the ESPN club, but oh well. DH and I decided to go for a quick service at RIV tonight. When we went to take the skyline it was down due to lightening in the area. We decided to drive there. Nope, was told by the guard at the front we can't do that. I understand not allowing guests to come because they may want to use the skyline, but - we are at the BCV - we would not be parking there to use the skyline, we only wanted to get a quick service.
Disney lost our money tonight. We went off and ate instead:)
Food was better, and cheaper:)

We hop on the Skyliner all the time while staying at BCV for Riviera's Quick Service. They will turn you away without an ADR. None of the resorts will let you go for quick service. I know it's disappointing. Where did you end up going/eating?

I know it's disappointing. Where did you end up going/eating? This isn't true. We drove to SSR for QS no issues. WL for Geyser Point hasn't been an issue either. Usually none at OKW. Friends were at POR no issues. I noticed June they were far more strict than usual even late in the day. Used to be easier at the rest which is a shame. |

The reason they have gated parking lots in the first place is to keep just anyone from taking advantage of the resort parking (and filling them up) for reasons like being able to hop on a monorail/skyliner or walking to MK in the case of Contemporary/BLT, correct (or even swimming in the pools and not being a guest there)? They can't check a reservation if you are just going to a QS meal. Its frustrating if you are honestly just trying to enjoy a QS meal there, but doesn't that make sense? Trust me, I am not one to defend some of Disney's frustrating rules, but at least that one makes a little more sense to me than others.

They were very strict on these limited access “rules” during the pandemic, since then it depends who you get at the gate. A dining reservation will always let you in but lounge / quick service access is iffy. I thought it was improving but then experiences like this occur…

Might depend on who is working the gate. They might be more relaxed with the rules depending on the season? Who knows.
Years ago we took the chance with the car and drove to TOWL and other resorts for QS. We don't chance it now and waste time unless I consistently read/hear they are allowing this. We go to various resorts for QS often for various reasons and take the boat/s, bus, monorail, etc.

I would agree it depends who you have at the gate. One way they let you through is if you mobile order and show your mobile order is prepping/ready. At least we've had success with this.

To get into the Riviera, you can enter through Caribbean Beach without any issues. Just drive around the perimeter to enter the Riviera parking lot.

We were going to try to mobile order then was unsure if they allow a car in for mobile order:( To get into the Riviera, you can enter through Caribbean Beach without any issues. A few years ago, we were able to go to the Poly for dole whip - we got our dole whip and left right after we ate it - and that was only a dessert, never mind a quick service meal. RIV quick service is much better than YC&BC imo. I miss the ESPN club. |

It's all about excess cars parked and there are plenty of scammers. I get why they need to do this. We stay at BWV and BCV and we park. I'd be pissed if parking were harder because it already is because they let in a bunch of scammers. I support this activity and don't see it as a drawback.

I agree they do this to stop stammers, which was why when I stopped at the gate at riv, I explained I was staying at bc- even opened my phone to show reservation. There is zero advantage of parking at riv if staying at bcv or bwv. I wish they had some sort of good neighbor relations with close resorts. We were all set to take the skyline, it was just down a lot yesterday due to weather:( |
