Does anyone else go back and forth over which resort to try and book? Do you purposely try something new or stick with the one you love? Do you take turns deciding? Do you end up doing split stays? A little of everything. We do a mix of DVC / Resort, long / short, and planned / spontaneous. In our 22-23 season we stayed at I think, 10 different Disney Villas / Resorts. We closed out our AP year with the Poly Honeymoon Suite just cuz we always wanted to stay there. For next year we asked our kids where they loved most and want to go again. POFQ and Beach Club (Resort) both came up as beloved places they want to get back to, and CB will be a resort we try in 2024/25 that we've never stayed at before. Our Bay Lake will always bookend our year since that's our home, and we're new owners at Boardwalk too as of this week. Congrats on your BW points!!

Lately we have been trying to mix it up more and stay at the resorts we have not in the past. Have an upcoming stay at Kidani and looking forward to it. Still have copper creek, Riviera and boardwalk to try.

We have this happening right now for our trip in Feb! We love Poly, BWV, and BCV, but don’t want to move more than once and not too far into the stay.

Are you opposed to them? We have done them a small number of times and bell services has always been amazing at moving our stuff. I can be indecisive about this too. I like just unpacking once...but I also like exploring the different resorts.

We do rotate around depending on what we plan for the trip...parks then avoid OKW but if only a day or so then love that for DS.....we have our favs and actually just came back from CCV/BWV for pre and post stay Disney Cruise. At the pool, we were trying to figure out how many times we had been to each one. Is there a way to see it? On the DVC site only went back a year or so??? We have been to all except Aulani, GCV and Riviera. Hope to get to Aulani in the next 2 years and GCV which is hard to get. I am hesitant about Riviera because high in points and I do not like the gondola but want to try staying there. I avoid split stays because want to unpack and do not like being homeless but we have a few times over the last 13 years. We think we have stayed the most at BWV, GFV...least at SSR and AKV.

How many points you start off with depends on how often you will plan to go, how many nights you want to stay and your booking preference -studio, 1 BR, etc.

I own at BCV and SSR, but I like to mix up where I stay--and while I sometimes can and do use home resort advantage, more often I'm booking at or later than 7 months out....If it's a short trip (5 days or less) I prefer not to split-stay. If it's a longer trip then I enjoy staying at 2 different resorts....so far, I have plenty of points so I've "discovered" how nice it is to book an overlap day (almost a necessity w/a two-year-old (my DGS) along; he really needs his nap!)....this past trip we did a grand gathering of 10 w/6 days at Kidani, and a "just us" (me, DS, DIL, DGS) for 6 days at BCV....I kept my Kidani studio for an extra day, and DGS napped there while we waiting for our BCV room to be ready. It worked out really really well. I'm a convert!
People ask all the time what my favorite resort is--I tend to reply "whichever one I'm staying at"....I love all but one (and the one I don't love is due to a very bad CM experience when I stayed there about 5 years ago....and I'm almost (but not quite) ready to give that one another chance)...I'm aware of the much greater point cost to stay at places like Riviera, VGF, Poly, BLT, so if points usage is an issue, I go with the lower-points-cost choices....but even when I have plenty of points to use, if it's been a while since I stayed at OKW or BWV or SSR, I'll often choose one of them....availability, of course, matters. But stalking, the W/L, use of the 7-month window opening, and "just luck" means I almost always wind up booking my first choice....and my first choice is heavily influenced by how long it's been since I stayed at any given resort. I've stayed at all the WDW resorts now (no desire at all to travel to VB or HHI,or to California or Hawaii)--although my WLV stays are pre-Copper Creek, so I've only stayed at Boulder Ridge. But that's the one resort I don't like (due to that very bad CM experience) so I usually don't even look for availability there....
From this you can probably tell I go to WDW quite frequently--4-5 times/year, usually for a week or so....almost always w/family or a Disney Buddy, but very occasionally on my own (I do like solo trips, but pretty much every time I "plan" one it turns out that someone wants to come w/me--I've really only had 2 solo trips in the 17 years I've owned DVC points)...so I wouldn't call myself "indecisive," but I do wind up moving around a lot!
