Josh came out still in favor of park reservations…bummer. And, from a Disney standpoint, they make a lot of sense. I really don't see them going away. Too much benefit to Disney. Cheers. They are hindering planning and people from doing Disney trips. I know more than one who opted elsewhere because of how complicated it was. Not good when you lose revenue. I wouldn't mind if 95% of them time they were smokescreens so to speak. Only there when they really need it and editing them is easy and such. Until then I'm not a fan. Not a fan of 2pm hopping at all. Baby steps though.

4. The monstrosity is coming down… regarding number two, if you do have a reservation, do you still need to set foot in the park before you can hop?

I just wonder if they save more in staffing with this in place than they may be losing in revenue as a result. I'm guessing they've run the numbers and know the answer to this.
Cheers.

I am not sure it is about savings as much as it is that they still cannot get workers back. Even with hiring freezes elsewhere in the company CMs for parks are still posted. People were revenge vacationing so to speak. That will end. A smart person doesn't gound on same revenue like that forever especially since so many are disgruntled.

Part of the article where Josh D was still pushing park reservations talked about “the guest experience”. I laugh at that…the parks are packed. It’s not a pleasant guest experience. If they need to keep them in place for other reasons, that’s fine, but please don’t say it’s about the guest experience. How about telling the real reason? I would be more willing to accept that over some other reason to make it seem like they are doing me a huge favor.

There is one time that it might have actually worked but I have no idea if it was the rain or not. It was gay days last year at MK. Funny enough that was the day I met Josh. It was less crowded. It was sold out for the day at MK. If it was like that, I would be on his side. If it was like other days? Nah. I do want honesty but I doubt we'll get that. At first park reservations did help control crowds, and maybe they don't want to walk back on that, but it's time they admit that maybe times have changed and reservations aren't the help they were with the guest experience that they once were.

I’d be okay with using them on holidays or for opening of festival days at Epcot, opening ride days or even the first month. It’s not about a better guest experience at this point.

Absolutely - though I'm sure it is harder to keep track of specific dates. I still think they should move to the idea that has been rumored. Onsite=no restrictions. Win win.

That’s the thing though there at this point aren’t enough perks for staying onsite - in the last 18 months I have stayed off site more than in the last 20 years. It has just become so complicated. Especially if your traveling with 1st timers or non-park people . We had my sons buddies show up and it’s not like they could grab a ticket and join us. Neither 20 something had a MDE account that they could access- they would have needed to create new emails from scratch, open an account, accept friends and family requests before we could even get to available park reservations. Even though we were staying @ OKW our destination was UO/IOA. We showed up at noon parked the car they grabbed tickets at the gate and WALKED IN! Headed over to Finnegan’s- & were immediately seated had lunch. The next thing I hope they work on is the “60” day window. It’s ridiculous 60 days for all guests means I am either eating in the room or paying for a snipe service for dining reservations. the announced changes are a great start but a lots gotta change before I feel comfortable planning anything more than a solo trip.

As much as I hate these park reservations, and I REALLY do, I just got a survey from Universal, and it got us thinking/discussing around here. It was a survey about Epic Universe, and revolved around the possibility and our feelings on park reservations vs showing up and possibly being turned away due to capacity. I am sure they are expecting insane crowds at Univeral when Epic opens. So based on the survey questions, DH was very pro reservations for this new park. And I can see some of the point. I can't imagine planning a big Universal trip, only to show up at the gates at Epic, and being turned away due to capacity. I don't know what they'll end up doing. doesn't open until 2025. maybe the new NIntendo land in US Hollywood will give an indication, after seeing what kind of crowds they get. I know it's apples/oranges in a lot of ways. A brand new theme park vs older ones, but got me actually thinking a reservation in that scenario might be preferable. that said, I still want WDW to do away with them.

For us, the benefit of staying onsite is staying onsite. Being there. Walking to 2 parks. Easy access to things. I'd like some additional perks, of course, but just being there is enough of a perk for us.
Cheers.
