standard language use conventions dictate that my pet peeve is out of date. I'm still silently correcting everyone who says "beg the question" to mean "raise the question" in my head lol, even though I know it's no longer technically wrong! You and I can hang out in the corner of the party, and I will tell you all about how wrong the world is that two spaces at the end of a sentence is no longer correct. APA, MLA, Chicago Manual and Harvard all tell me it is wrong. I don't care; my muscle memory will probably always make me hit that spacebar "bump bump" every time, and the software on this board and others can filter it out. Me thinks it's easier to read with two spaces.

Double-space at the end of a sentence for LIFE! I will never surrender this!
"You will have to take the double space at the end of a sentence from my cold, dead hands!"

Or you can just set your devices to do what is correct and when you hit double space it adds the period and still gives the correct spaces

Or you can just set your devices to do what is correct I'm already doing what is correct...someday the world will come back around when we aren't so worried about making all of our written text look more like text messages. The exact same logic of all the style manuals deciding that "double space at the end of a sentence" should just be a single, means that soon we can stop capitalizing the first letter of things, dropping words, pulling out letters, leaving question marks off the ends of questions, and leaving commas out. Now I am wondering about books, like actual books. Say I go to the store and buy a new fiction novel. Do they use one space or two?

Some software programs adjust to it, some don't. Books use 1 space now, not two. Used to be spaces were smaller due to typesets. Now that's gone 2 spaces is incorrect as they are larger vs what they were in typewriters. I do hose up sometimes where I am since I swap from mobile to laptop but i know one space is right. I have my desktop set to do one period and space with two space presses just like my phone and tablets now. Not that I judge but in my grant writing I am sure to do 1 space

Oh well, guess I'll file this one alongside the "Sinatra dressed better than we do now" and "old equipment had better tactile feedback then we do now" entries in the guidebook of "World's going to hell"

Can I say this thread has become a big thread drift. Should I double space?đŹ

Knew it was now âfrowned uponâ, but I never realized the double space after period was now âunacceptableâ.
If the device does it for me, so be it. Otherwise fuck that, I ainât changing.

We usually enjoy the lobby or sitting outside Gaparellas. However there has been construction at the resort and the lobby and Gasparilla outside seating was not an option this past summer. Wish they would bring back the band in the lobby

Wish they would bring back the band in the lobby Most definitely. Extremely doubtful, unfortunately.

Actually, when last we were there in May (and going back tomorrow so we can confirm ), the path to MK was fine. But the path to Poly/TTC was very much impacted by construction requiring either crossing the street or walking in the road. The serene path it ain't at present.
Cheers.
Just got back last night. We walked the path from TTC to VGF. There is a temporary path that runs in front of the construction. End the three days during our trip, we walked from Contemporary to Grand Floridian to Poly to TTC. The path is wide and does not put you in danger. The only street you have to cross is at BLT. They have fixed the need to cross the street at least. that was a bit of a harrowing experience for me to do. I watched a pedestrian nearly get hit by a car. We enjoy hanging out at the lobby area just looking at the shops. We also enjoy just wandering the pool areas and walking between resorts. Interesting. We just got back and we must have missed something. We walked from TTC to Poly and wanted to go to GF. We were told by several employees that there was no way to walk and that monorail was the only way. In looking from the monorail, I did not see anything but road on the construction side. Even the grass part where we used to walk was gone, so road only or cross, it looked like/
Clearly there was something we didn't see for navigating this part.
Yeah, the BLT all the way to VGF part is easy. It was just the VGC to Poly that I'm still not sure about from what we saw (and were told). The rest is straightforward.
Cheers.

Cheers. I just looked and see no indication it closed again after the changes were made in the spring... mickeyblog.com/2023/04/06/walking-path-changed-between-disneys-polynesian-and-grand-floridian-resorts/The path to Shades of Green closed in May I think. Maybe they got the paths confused?

Maybe they got the paths confused? What we saw from the monorail was a further-out fence on the construction side - all the way to road. Looking from above may have been deceptive, but that's how it appeared. Of course, this was the start of a new work-week in September, after Labor Day, so maybe they moved things as the construction is moving ahead very quickly. Or maybe it was there and we just missed it from above.
Definitely looked more restricted as of 7 September.
Cheers.

I don't recall seeing the path from the monorail before except across the street but I don't know for sure. All I know is there are zero announcements of the closure. So either it is new, or something else was missing.
