Greetings, I will be staying at the Grand Floridian for the first time. Our thought is to enjoy the resort for the 1st and 3rd day. However that begs the question of whether there is plenty of enjoyable activities and things to do? Please provide recommendations on entertaining, activities, or other things that we can do at the resort.
Thank you

I used to enjoy afternoons/evenings listening to the piano player and band playing alternatively on the half hour. Mostly just lounging about and people watching while doing so.
Alas, now it is only the pianist.
As far as places to roam, you’ve got the lobby, various shops, and Enchanted Rose lounge.

Agreed. When we go to GF, we just wander around in the lobby and the shops. I could easily see sitting in the beautiful lobby for a while with a Kindle or book and just reading in the atmosphere. It's that kinda place.
Cheers.

We liked the pool areas. Plus you can always walk to the Polynesian. It is very close. Do a pool crawl.

As brp said the GF is wonderful place to just hangout and enjoy the day. You don't mention when you'll be there but if the weather is nice and you are walkers you can walk to the TTC to the right and to the Contemporary to left on the walking path. But do check first since the path to the MK has been closed during the renovations. If you are so inclined you could do the Monorail loop bar hop by foot. I would also suggest a boat ride, catch the boat to the MK then switch boats to either the wilderness lodge or the camp ground grab lunch and then cruise back. We often will do that as a days outing but since we have APs we will typically include a train ride and loop through the MK.

The Daily Resort Activity Guide for September is available online . Paint Your Disney Story Poolside Activity Campfire Mickey Tie Dye White Rabbitt Pocket Watch Hunt Boat Rentals G-Flo Glow Party MoviesUnder the Stars
The Tie Dye is fun and Not messy . The Crafts has this activity down to perfection It is almost amazing !
And the boat rental is about as easy as driving a car ! And so relaxing to pack a picnic lunch or enjoy just before sunset. I don’t think they allow alcohol obviously but you will want to pack water to drink . I guarantee once you have Pirated your own ship , you will always plan to set sail many times ! Also fun to have Bluetooth connected to onboard sound system for Yo Ho A Pirates Life for Me and Beyond the Seas from Nemo music !
I also loved visiting the DVC Craft Center at BLT and the Riviera Resort . Ask about the Scavenger Hunts too.

Actually, when last we were there in May (and going back tomorrow so we can confirm ), the path to MK was fine. But the path to Poly/TTC was very much impacted by construction requiring either crossing the street or walking in the road. The serene path it ain't at present.
Cheers.

Thanks BRP… I am concerned about construction for family arriving for Thanksgiving so any update will be appreciated . Ultimately WDW has their own timelines to delay .

Just got back last night. We walked the path from TTC to VGF. There is a temporary path that runs in front of the construction. End the three days during our trip, we walked from Contemporary to Grand Floridian to Poly to TTC. The path is wide and does not put you in danger. The only street you have to cross is at BLT.

...However that begs the question of...
If you'll please be patient and humor my (now out-of-date) pet peeve -- does anyone remember when the use of "beg the question" was inappropriate in this context? "Beg the question" used to only be in reference to the logical fallacy (def #2 below), but since it is now more frequently used in this context (def #1 below, synonymous with "raising the question"), standard language use conventions dictate that my pet peeve is out of date. I'm still silently correcting everyone who says "beg the question" to mean "raise the question" in my head lol, even though I know it's no longer technically wrong!
Definition of "beg the question:" 1. (of a fact or action) raise a question or point that has not been dealt with; invite an obvious question. "some definitions of mental illness beg the question of what constitutes normal behavior" 2. assume the truth of an argument or proposition to be proved, without arguing it.

They have fixed the need to cross the street at least. that was a bit of a harrowing experience for me to do. I watched a pedestrian nearly get hit by a car. We enjoy hanging out at the lobby area just looking at the shops. We also enjoy just wandering the pool areas and walking between resorts.
