The question was about DVC booking though Tom., which is what I was responding to. I’m not disagreeing about WDW being busy. Me too.

Just for kicks, I looked at July 4th week in a studio, since that is the closest to 11 months out and a a major holiday that can be booked.
What's not available.
VGF - standard view AKV - value and club level Riviera - Tower and Standard BWV - standard and Boardwalk CCV - no studios BLT - standard and theme park OKW - Hopitality
Pretty much normal (what you would expect) 11 month demand. There were two surprises to me.....BCV was available and CCV had no studios.

They also have the annoying split shower and tub thing which causes some early demand. Lastly the timing of when small contracts were bought, CCV was there. Lots who have to book only studios. PVB has same issue but anectidally the number who book elsewhere for high point cost is greater than CCV. Many PVB original owners never stay there because they can't afford the points. At least CCV doesn't have that and significantly less rooms than PVB to boot

Didn't vote as we would never go during a popular week. Going the Tuesday after Labor day was fabulous. 5-minites wait on RotR? Really? Cheers. Since I am not retired (you lucky bastard), As you know, it's not luck but planning. And I know you're planning yours. Based on the things you already do, you're gonna be damned good at the retirement thing in a few years.
Cheers.

Since I am not retired (you lucky bastard), I still have to schedule around most holidays to maximize my vacations. Wife and I are not retired, (well I guess technically I am but she's not and I wasn't until recently) and we have always planned our trips during quote-unquote "slow times" at WDW. No holidays for us, no way. When I was a kid, though, it was Christmas and New Years, every year...now I'm older and you couldn't convince me to go during that time.

I’m not disagreeing about WDW being busy. Me too. We’ll have to agree to disagree Tom. I’m not convinced we’re even discussing the same thing. I’m using the availability charts which show how long rooms remain available after the 11 month window for different times of the year. Probably because of the high points cost of that week. Early December is such a low cost points-wise that it books out fast. Technically every week will be “busy” at DVC since it operates at such a high capacity. We’ve booked the Christmas week at less than 6 months at Bay Lake when we had to postpone a July trip.

Sometimes I am wrong.....don't tell my wife I said that.
September and January have extremely low point costs, but you do not see rooms gone at 11 months.....except those "golden" few.
Going back to the OP and buying a fixed week in a studio, I do not see early December being a top demand week. The exception of course are your golden rooms and Wilderness Lodge.
This new Poly Tower will be popular and will have issues booking at the 7 month window and under. You have lots of original Poly owners who want more then a studio, that will be more than happy to finally be able to lock in a 2-bedroom at 11 months....or any room in the Tower.
DVC usage is a year round thing vs normal hotel booking rates. Between Disney renting points, all the brokers now renting points.....finding anything after 7 months starts to really become difficult the past few years.
PS - you got really lucky with the BLT reservation, in my opinion.

Quoting for posterity lol Seriously though, looking at the booking history from years ago, I do think Christmas is harder than the first week of December however I do think first week of December is pretty darn hard to book. Ever since I've been looking since early 2000, I've noticed that first week of December was really hard to book. It used to be people are really excited to see the Christmas decorations as well as go to the member meeting that always takes place around the 1st of december. All along with enjoying smaller crowds. Then things changed with crowds the first week of December and they're much more than they used to be, but not as bad as christmas, and that you think if it isn't as hard now, it has to do with people slightly annoyed with crowds. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it is still one of the hardest weeks to book. I do think Easter or Passover either the week before or after is not near as hard as early December in my experience. I'm booked for the week before Easter next year, much to my adjustment, and I had a lot of choices for that week. Granted, Passover and Easter do not align this year so that might have something to do with it too. And all of that above was voice to text thanks to a cat, so if something doesn't make sense try to read it out loud and hopefully you'll know what I said
