MD at least Ocmd has the a hotel tax applied, so not something that tourist areas are immune, to. Coming into DE beaches via Rt 1 they charge more on weekends. That said coming from over charging, NJ bridges tolls, including crossing over to Philly. I’ve had no problem with it or FL toll prices. We have a sun pass only because son was going to school there and if we flew into MCO headed north we had tolls. If we visited him and headed to Disney we had tolls. I don’t like paying the rent a car companies extra money to use there pass. Prior we just went to Disney, no car and never left until going back to MCO. To me there is a difference between tolls and having taxes rolled into things. VGC has it rolled into the MFs. This will not. For us, we'd have to pay an extra $700-1000 for our stays. A might bit different than $10 in tolls driving to and from MCO

But we never drive while at Disney so those tolls haven’t been a factor for those trips.

I hear the bay bridge tolls are high, guess the same when living in NJ that Fl tolls when needed to use a car it is not an issue. the room taxes the hotels hate, and many make sure to let visitors know. It’s not our charged we are required by the city, ridiculous, they actually considered raising it this year. That didn’t happen, for now. great it brings in more money for the city to have silly events, that many don’t want. But hey it covers the cost of extra dpw, public safety. sorry you had a bad weather weekend. it was a lousy June, then December in the area. We love locals Summer in the Delmarva area. Didn’t happen in September.

We rented a condo from a private owner, so the rate wasn’t near what a hotel room would have been. It rained like two days, sunny 1/2 day, and windy the rest! Grew up going to OCMD and I tell ya we probably won’t be back. What was old is still old and not much new to the area. I was surprised how many establishments ( stores and restaurants) were closed. But it was a very relaxing stay and that was good to get away.

The taxes we are talking about are related to the new hotel that was explained. They have a transient tax to collect. Instead of rolling it into dues you pay OOP. It seems to be more than VGC even if not rolled into MFs. If I did 5 nights in a 1 or 2 bedroom I'll be hit with that amount. So I was saying that this is definitely different than a toll. Comparing tolls to get somewhere is not at all the same as a transient tax and no toll road I've been on is bad. If there are fees added to rooms for transient taxes, then it's fine if rolled in to me. This tax for the new villas is beyond anything I'd be willing to pay.

I don’t find Fl tolls bad compared to other states.

But it was a very relaxing stay and that was good to get away. Sorry about the bad weather but at least you had a relaxing stay. We have vacationed there for over 30 yrs when we use to live only a hour from OCNJ. Many do close up at what I think is too soon. For some I guess they made their money with Summer tourists and it’s not worth the lesser amount of business to stay open. Some of it has to do with losing employees, once they are back in school. I’m sure you did save renting. A friend of mine was going to Oceans Calling, not sure what she paid but she had commented that the hotel they booked was expensive. She wasn’t even staying down at the inlet where they could walk. They stayed at the Fenwick Inn which is right over the DE line so busses or driving to hope to find parking in municipal lots. The de towns have more going on post season but I think that’s because surrounding towns to Bethany, Fenwick such as Ocean View, Millville, Lewis has more full time residents. Ocean City has events but basically people come in for that, bike week, cruisin weekend and that’s it then they leave. Basically in the winter it’s a ghost town.

I don’t find Fl tolls bad compared to other states. Depending on the points used. It's I think $2.83 a point. That adds up fast there. I don't actually live in a state that has a lot of toll roads. I avoid the only one we have easily. I just have my Sunpass Pro now (cheaper than my home state) and can use it everywhere I'd need. Will use it tomorrow.

Will use it tomorrow. In Maryland, there is lots and lots of water. The Chesapeake Bay divides most of the state in half and there are some big rivers. Because of both, access across those large bodies of water is very limited. That is where most of the tolls are located and they are quite hard to avoid.
Over the Bay, there are only five ways to cross to the other side. Two tunnels, two bridges, one bridge/tunnel. Of those five, three are at the top end near Baltimore, one is mid-bay at Annapolis and the last is at the bottom from Virginia to Maryland.
Another major toll is on Interstate 95 at the Susquehanna River. There are only three bridges that cross the river, two have tolls, the third is super inconvenient with no toll.

I haven't had to drive much on toll roads in MD. Just where family lived that we avoid I guess. I'd have to think if we ran into any going to a wedding in Baltimore (staying in NoVA with some family). That was 15 years ago and while I've been to Baltimore since, I haven't driven. Usually we're near Columbia now and some family has moved away. I've done a lot in other regions of the NE and around Chicago too. The Ohio Turnpike is the only toll road I'm aware of here. No one likes to drive it as it is the road a lot of trucks use to go across the top part of the state. I can easily avoid. That's why I didn't want to use Ohio's EZ pass. I never drive it, and their fees for non use were higher. When the family lived in Tampa I used it a lot anyway.

I don’t keep up really with DVC in CA, not sure why they set it up that way. When we lived in NJ there were tolls if one used the turnpike, though in some areas you could use 295 for most of the way with no tolls. Going over the bridges in to Philly, can’t beat the tolls. We have a sun pass from when son went to school down there. Much better than NJ EZPass.

We did a lot of driving on 295 with where family lived in the NJ area.I didn't personally drive from Philly to NJ or back either. I do remember the bridge though we took. It's been a while as they moved not long after my kid was born. Now the same are in the NE but barely I was reminded this morning how much I dislike Florida drivers. There was a slow down on 417 because people were watching diggers, no joke. Total thread drift but dang, they annoy me here LOL

Son use to speak of Fl drivers when he went to school there but I use to tell him. Are they actually Fl drivers, most are transients so they are from all over. Maybe something happens when they cross the state line and see Welcome to the Sunshine State, lol. You are down there now. Enjoy, hope you have good weather.

Being from Ohio I know many of my locals become snowbirds. Ohio drivers aren't the best either. So I joke that you just get tons of bad Ohio drivers there. I come home tomorrow, we'll see how 417 is tomorrow at 2 or so. I'm just laughing still about the diggers. I expected an accident or a major exit or entrance that slowed it down. Nope, digger watching. Oye!
