Thanks. In my work life, I worked with many UK colleagues and we always ended our correspondence with a Cheers, so that is a thing I do now without thinking. I had the privilege of working with Bill Graham, rock impresario and inventor of the modern rock concert. He always ended communications with "Cheers," even though he was a German Jew who grew up in New York. I adopted that salutation long ago in honor of Bill and use it on just about everything. Cheers. Wow, you worked with Bill Graham. That must have been amazing. That’s a name that’s a blast from the past. My sister went to a lot of concerts at the Phillmore East, back in the sixties when we lived in NY.

Unfortunately, only about 3 years before Bill died.
I wish I had known then what I know now as I also lived in NYC and would have loved to have gone to the Fillmore East (and CBGBs, of course). Many times to the Fillmore San Francisco, though.
Cheers.

So hence in the sixties she was out and about. She thought she took me there Phillmore East but no. She did when she was ‘babysitting me, take me to Richie Havens in LI, Jefferson Airplane at Fordam U. My 4th grade bday present, Janis Joplin at MSG. The Stones once we moved she came up for at MSG in 72. A bit different childhood, but was great. CBGB’s, can’t think of the punk rock group that wrote the song about it. I can hear it in my head but darn, escapes me now. Philly opened up a few years back a Philmore. I remember hearing it on the radio and thinking, what a Phillmore? We lived in SJ basically over the bridge to Philly. Shame, it’s a mess there now because they have a lot of good concert venues. Not the huge acts that every city has but a 400 plus venue for those groups that don’t get the radio play or are starting to get noticed. My son still goes, to my dismay…. But he’s an adult, what I don’t know won’t kill me, lol. Except when his best friend who is our unofficial adopted daughter, sends me pictures at midnight. Phillmore poster, Allman Brothers, comes back to memory. It was going to drive me nuts about what song mentioned CBGB’s so I went and remembered the line. Talking Heads, life during Wartime.

I just needed to get that song out of my head or figure it out. Sorta like hearing about TS storm Ophelia for the past week we have had. And all I hear is Oh, oh Ophelia, you’ve been on my mind….

Congrats on your retirement. I'm glad the kids could join you for part of the trip followed by the wife. That sounds like a great way to celebrate.

Congrats! We did something similar for mine. We spent 6 weeks from mid Dec-late Jan in Florida between DVC, airbnbs and hanging at my parent’s place in FL. The kids joined us for two different parts of the trip. It was a great celebration. It also helped us decide where we wanted to live down here. I’ve never looked back and cherish the handful of days in 5 years that I’ve been bored…mostly during torrential rains in hurricane season.
Enjoy the new lifestyle!

Congrats on retirement, feels good don't it!
The morning after I retired we jumped in the car and headed for WDW (From SoCal) and have been here for almost 5 years now. One of the advantages here is that if we do get bored we can probably pick up some hours in the park. Our month long trips are now to Europe for vaca each year.
As far as the bear goes it would be had for them to get over most of Disney's fences, we have seen live dear in the backside from the train, Also MK is surrounded with wooded areas that bears have been sighted in, we haven't seen one but we have seen dear, otters and even bobcats.
While my favorite outfit is a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt I seldom have the hood up. I would say if you see this the why depends on the age, if they are under 30 it is a statement if the are over 30 it is sun protection worried about skin cancer....

Congratulations on your retirement! Happy planning with all your free time We are retired but we don't/can't take too much time off since we babysit of the the grandchildren. We did just come back from Italy 2-1/2 weeks!!! As much as I want to add extra days (and we have another long one end of March/early April), I don't like or I am not used to leaving home for so long. My son does come for mail/check on the house/pool, etc. I need to get used to being away for long periods. Enjoy!!
