Oh good! Then we agree, one bad marketing plan, or mis targeted movie can alienate a large part of your customer based…

Oh good! Then we agree, one bad marketing plan, or mis targeted movie can alienate a large part of your customer based… I don't think one bad movie will do it. A series of them though, can have an impact. But this is about the quality of the movie not the "message." As for the "marketing plan" part, I don't think we agree on that at all
Cheers.

I have not seen anything in the Wish Previews that make me say, "Go See It". Happy to wait for Disney+..and even then I am kind of tired of the Formula.

Sorry, brp. It is both. A fun movie with the right messaging and audience can overcome a bad script. Not sure Moana was great script but it was fun and entertaining and not really any politicla oriented leanings. The Social stuff in movies is killing Disney.

Disney has a big in-house problem with their movie division. There has been way too many flops these past few years. And for every flop, there have been the Disney apologists saying one excuse after another for a movie's failure. There is not one reason for Disney's lack of success. But its not because of spending money. The misses are across all the Disney movie brands, not just MCU and Star Wars. It all started after Lasseter was fired.....slow at first, but snowballing over the past few years. The problems start at the top and have spread throughout the divisions. If Wish flops....who will get the blame this time? Will someone finally get the axe?

I ask always ask the kids I work with what they like to do/read/watch ect.Over the last 25 years there has been a shift - and the times have also changed along with media - from cable to streaming. many kids used to watch the disney channel on cable. Now many no longer have cable but streaming services (Netflix most common I hear of). But kids also watch youtube. Many kids never heard of Lilo and Stitch, or the incredibles. They do know marvel - but its the old stuff iron man, captain america, spider man (sony). Disney is losing the next generation. Iger needs to go. I don't understand why they leave him in charge. His time has passed. His ship has sailed. If disney stays the course with Iger at the helm - I fear he will only sink the ship. I am waiting for a new creative disney animated film. I am done with frozen, done with star wars, done with marvel. Give me something new and different. I am one of the biggest disney fans - I have loved disney my entire life. I have turned my family into disney fans. I could look with rose colored glasses and say it will work out, but I see their failures when I ask my students to write three sentences about their favorite movie, tv show or book. Nothing Disney is mentioned anymore. Disney is sadly losing the next generation. If they loose them for good, their future is bleak. Iger will have effectively turned the disney ship into the Titanic.

I keep coming back to Free Guy, which I will free admit is not an amazing movie, but it is fun. Kids catch the video game references. Ryan Renolds makes everyone laugh. The movie tells a story... Also admittedly a stupid one, but the whole things works. Kids watch it, parents watch it good movie

completely agree. They just don't get it, and they are losing the next generation to others with better stories. Right now....yes.
As an example - On Halloween night, we had around 250 trick or treaters. We saw lots of Barbie/Ken and Super Mario themed costumes. But what we did not see were boys dresses in Disney Costumes. There were some Princesses, but there were more Peach costumes than any particular Disney Princess. To further your point, What is "hot" in the Disney merchandising right now? I really can't think of anything that kids are clamoring to have, tied to a Disney Movie.

Rather than a respin or lame extension, it was original. And, as you say, Ryan Reynolds is simply good. Hitman's Bodyguard and follow-on were great.
They really need to do more original stuff like this and not just the next version of something old. Because they really don't get it right.
Cheers.

Retrospectively, it might have been better if the live remake of Beauty and the Beast flopped. That could have been the end of the live remakes.
Most of Disney’s most successful movies have been inspired by old tales. Why not just stick with that formula? There are thousands of folk tales from multiple cultures that could be used. Many of these tales would add diversity.

Cheers. Duffy is HUGE in Japan (for some reason). Disney could also definitely step up the quality of their merchandise. If you make it look like a knock off, then people will just buy a cheaper knock off.

No desire to see the Marvels. Captain Marvel was my least favorite of the films by far. Just something about it. Cant say I liked the character in Endgame either. So no thanks.
And yes, scarcity would be good...and not so many bloody remakes. At this pace, next year they'll be remaking Encanto.

I might be in the minority, but Endgame was also my least favorite of the Marvel saga series. Not a fan of time travel it just creates too many gaps.
