Yep Veterans Day was observed Friday mixed with Jersey week. Bad combo. Didn't think about Jersey Week, and Veteran's Day is not a holiday out here, so didn't even consdier that a holiday might be happening. The perks of retirement. Every day is Saturday, right? 
Sure, but we still have to watch out for other people's holidays and commute hours to avoid mixing with the hoi polloi.

My kid and spouse both were in school & work. I always forget certain holidays too when traveling around. We definitely don't do what others do. Jersey week though is worse IMO than Veteran's Day. Our IPD or CBus day had little impact on the crowd I think. Though it did impact flight prices |

We just got back from a stay at BCV (11/8-13).
The first thing to note is that this was not just crowded, it was CROWDED. Folks can trot out all the data they want about declining attendance, but this real-world observation did not support those data. It was busy because it was Jersey week.....its always busy that week. Plus add in a Federal Holiday. |

1. We had deluxe resort extra hours at AK the day we arrived. Not much to do as the animal things are closed. But likes for FoP and Na'vi got short. So that was worth it.
2. Rope drop at MK still works wonders, even at times like this. We did 7DMT, Pooh and BTMRR with virtually no wait. We did go to get coffee before Jingle Cruise, and that was a mistake. It went from like 35-70 minutes.
3. VQ for tron seems not that hard, or I just got luckier than other queues. I never got RotR when it was VQ in multiple tries, nut now 3:3 on Tron. It does seem to break down, so a BG 66 didn't go until after 3. The plus side is that, when it reopened, it was like 5 minutes to get on the ride.
4. We were able to meet up with ermindy1133 on Sunday, at MK (yes, helenabear , we were actually at MK!  ). and that was fun as it always is to meet MO peeps.

3. I hate Virtual Ques at WDW. We don't need them, but the I find the whole process very off putting.
4. Lucky....Mindy's trips always seem to totally miss ours. I still owe Tim a drink....I don't recall why anymore, just the owing a drink part.
I love the MO meets with MO peeps. I am going to try a MO meet up over our Christmas-NYE trip. I already know several are interested in getting together.

First and foremost, it was really nice meeting Mindy and Tim.Ben waiting for that for a while.
I don't mind the VQ since it means I don't have to stand in line. Given the lines at Ratatouille, for example, I'd never ride Tron without VQ. So I can accept it for that. OTOH, we have ridden RotR several times since VQ went away (and I failed at that every time), so Tron might work as well. Like? No. Tolerate? yes.
Yup for crowds. Didn't think to look for Jersey Week and this is a non-holiday for us, so not even on the radar.
Christmas we are in San Diego with family and NYE is Portland with friends. Enjoy the MO peep meets at WDW!

avoid mixing with the hoi polloi.  I recall writing a little review and using the phrase "the unwashed masses" and somebody here thought that was great. Sorry to hear about the crowds. I've been caught up in unexpected crowds before, too, MLK jr day comes to mind, along with Mardi Gras. And "President's Week". But even without that, I find that no matter what supposed "slow season" I go, it's always crowded. |

I remember visiting the days prior to Jersey week and loving them…and then returning to HS one evening and finding a traffic jam…my first and only experience with Jersey week. It was second to the first time we tried to visit over Valentine’s Day/President’s Day weekend. Oof. Never again. For either.
