Completely agree, but then again I wasn't real thrilled with BLT being a high-rise either. When BLT was built, I was not interested....I did not like the pics I saw and I did not like the price point. The July 4th week, year after opening, we were staying a week at Wilderness Lodge Villas (back before Boulder Creek). I left after day 4 to go back to work, Robin and Sarah stayed for the rest of the week. On Friday, I got a call from Robin, from the living room of the BLT Grand Villa. They had decided to take a tour of the resort and ended up doing a tour of the villas too. Anyway, the call was like this...... Tom, we are over here at Bay Lake Tower and doing a tour. We are in the Grand Villa, looking at Magic Kingdom. I love it! I love the rooms and the decor. The furniture and decor looks so much better in person. I said.....OK, I will call Nancy and have her send me over a contract. By the next morning, we were owners at Bay Lake Tower.
The same thing kinda happened at Riviera Resort.....We weren't buying, but then we stayed there over a long weekend. Now we own four contracts there......lol.
But this time I am serious, I am not buying at the new Poly Tower!
Sure Jan  Totally kidding of course. I'm not sure if we're buying or not. I'm in a Disney grump and might just buy other things I don't need. But we will stay there. I almost bought BLT for location alone and glad I didn't. We are okay there but not my thing. We had a conversation recently about which resorts to have as a back up for BWV if I didn't get us in and I literally kept forgetting BLT. It's fine but I'd just rather be next door |

I like the Poly Tower design and layout (from what I know of the resort). I do not need to stay there, but will like to give it a try.
It does not offer me anything more than VGF and BLT, which i already own.
The Poly Tower reminds me a lot of Riviera, just smaller. We love Riviera, but what sold us on buying at the resort was the Skyliner. The Poly Tower does not have that "hook" to reel in my Visa from my wallet. If I was already an owner at Poly, I would probably add on if I needed more points.

That is our issue, we don't really need more points. I would add on there simply because I love Polynesian. I have stayed at all resorts but Riviera right now for DVC and I really cannot stand Grand Floridian. I like visiting, but I hate staying there. BLT is better but not by much. They really are some of my last choice resorts at this time. Weirdly what I like and don't like haven't changed too much but some refurbs have caused me to like something more than before. Having a kid actually had me like BCV less which is weird to say and BWV. The Polynesian has always been it for me though. Disney really has just made me that annoyed for that many years that I'm considering not adding on. And I was sure who's going to up until a couple months ago even. The one thing that the Polynesian Tower will have - and already has even - that Riviera lacks for me is less concrete on the ground. I want to have more trees nearby unless concrete grounds. That is the problem with BLT as well. I don't like that much concrete. |
