The rules for VQs from Jan 9th have just been announced.
Starting from January 9, you will be able to join one virtual queue at any theme park where you have valid admission. You can only hold one attraction virtual queue at a time.
You may also require a theme park reservation to join a virtual queue (eg AP holders) You do not need to be inside a theme park to request to join the virtual queue at 7:00 AM. You must be inside the theme park to request to join the virtual queue at 1:00 PM.

Also, the VQ for the Deluxe Resort evening hours allow joining the queue from outside the park.
Cheers.

If inside the park that 1:00 p.m. will be far less appealing to me.

And since it’s the same as it is now, it’s probably safe to say as long as you’ve already tapped in you’ll be good.

It is the same EXCEPT for the current need for a theme park reservation to try for a 7am VQ. So for guests with date-based tickets, who don’t need park reservations, you just need to have valid ticket for the 7am VQs. For AP holders I think it’s exactly the same as it is now.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering if things would change starting 1/9/24 with the dropping of reservations for date-based tickets.

Actually there is another change.
Currently you can hold more than one VQ at a time. Probably not by design but it is possible if you change your park reservation after booking the VQ at 7am.
They now say you will only be hold one at a time.

I'm sure someone will test. Of course I still need park reservations so not much applies to me

DH is doing a solo trip in a few weeks/MLK week, and he'll get to be our guinea pig. I think it's going to be a lot harder to get Guardians, because now you won't need to commit to that Epcot reservation, and everyone can try. But we'll see....

Do you recall what time the VQ opens for the Deluxe Resort evening hours?
