Big changes Starting May 20 to the DAS system.
Since Genite+ and lightning Lane surcharges, DAS use has tripled.
Only accommodate guests with a developmental disability like Autism or similar. Only can be made in advance (2-30 days) of your trip via with a video chat. Limits the DAS party to 4 guests, which are to be immediate family.
Adds a banning penalty for lying.

Overall, a good step. The lying part is going to be dicey to implement, and I'd imagine it won't get used often, if at all. But having it there may be useful in deterring some abuse.
Cheers.

I don’t disagree with the idea something had to be done.
BUT
- The way it’s been announced appears to be a cluster duck at the moment.
- There are some claiming that despite the wording it will accommodate some non-developmental disabilities.
- Something about toilet breaks from line and being able to get back in line - yet how anyone in a wheelchair or EVV will be able to do that is unclear.
- The UK arm of WDTC have said they only know there are changes because people are phoning them. The “link” to the DAS information goes back to our Home Screen. Disney don’t allow us to do video calls, even with a vpn. And g to he peak UK holiday time is in about 10 weeks.

The lying ban is not new. It's been there since the video chat happened in 2021? Not sure why that's being reported as new. It isn't.
Wording on UKs site uses neurodivergent vs developmental disabilities which probably will be more accurate. Developmental disabilities include dyslexia ha ha
I will say that the number of people in some ILLs has increased but oddly I haven't seen as many DAS. Just scanning through. An interesting tidbit I read though was the CMs and family are huge abusers of this.
This also eliminates jerks being jerks in person. Which I know many would go in person because they knew they'd be denied on video.

DAS system” under an FAQ.

Sorry I wasn't implying more just interested in differences in wording from one country to the next. I looked this up yesterday or day before I think. Just was making a joke with it though because developmental disabilities is not a good one to pick.

Again I wasn't saying it was updated and I mentioned it was only on the disability page. Just noticed a difference it wording that US WDW never used. As someone who has legit issues that falls under both terms as well as one working on DEI initiatives, I laughed at what the US site chose. They never used neurodivergent in the past either. So not trying to say anything other than usage of words varied and one I feel is far more accurate of a term than another.

I'm still baffled that so and many missed about the permaban before.

Once again, Disney leads from behind. This updated policy gives a win to the Autistic guests, that they were denied in court. But court was about money, not wrong or right.
I have no problem with the changes. I do think it needs to be expanded to cover guests like Jen, here on MO. I also think the banning policy has no teeth.

I have on,y read this info today… but my son monitors a lot of conversations …
Apparently huge online discussion already and “Services” to teach you how to answer & Pass . With todays announcement.
The “Disney” incentive would be guests using DAS to avoid paying for Genie+ And the LL , , Otherwise would Corporate even care ? Not worth the risk to be banned from Disney property.
I do worry this will make it difficult for the guests that truly need DAS .

I have no problem with the changes. I do think it needs to be expanded to cover guests like Jen, here on MO. I also think the banning policy has no teeth. Since it's been around for a number of years they either need to enforce or not. Though reality these "guides" that most likely abused it were trespassed and banned. So maybe they will do it more. I'm not terribly worried about changes. I think those who actually need it will qualify. Having access to a medical professional will be good. They'll understand how a person with Down Syndrom has symptoms that overlaps with someone who has autism or PTSD. (Or in some cases has 2 or so of the diagnosis which is not uncommon). Or how someone with a neurological condition will need support that an ECV or chair will not fix. Their wording choice I find ridiculous but get where they are coming from. I worry a little about fake autism parents in the future only because sometimes getting proof that's accessible to all with disabilities in timely manners isn't all that easy (aka not all diagnosis are in a digital porthole to easily access). What Six Flags uses has had issues and is under a law suit. I wish people were just honest about what they need and stop being so damn entitled.

There may be more to come over time, but I disagree with the changes. To limit to guests with a developmental disability like Autism or similar is too narrow a guideline…and just as easy to fake as others. There are legitimate physical conditions that should also qualify.
I am all for throwing the book at folks who make it up!! Shame on them.
