Inflation catching up to people? I have a pension with a 3% cola every year but I can tell the difference in my buying power since I retired in 2009. The cost of everything is going up rapidly and it's affecting people's disposable income. What is this disposable income you refer to?

I couldn’t resist adding on in 2023, and just got word last week that our $90 per point AUL contract passed ROFR. We had a few discussions about whether or not prices at AUL will go even lower, but I figure it was a deal I could still feel good about regardless.
The resort and grounds are beautiful, we love the location, and realistically wonder how low AUL or any other property can go?

Was $90 the listing price? Absolutely the time to go below asking price. Back in 2010-2011, I purchased quite the bargains. There is such a glut of inventory, the Brokers almost have to present lowball offers.

There is such a glut of inventory, the Brokers almost have to present lowball offers. Asking was $100+ and it was my preferred UY for AUL travels. I had been in negotiations on another contract with a UY to match my other AUL points (which is convenient but not ideal for my travel periods), and that seller was willing to accept $85 on a $100+ contract, but someone came in higher before we could confirm. I don’t mind paying $90 for the UY I really wanted.

I have been following a few brokers and yes, inventories are way up. Prices are starting to slump. Even some smaller contracts are taking a little longer to sell. I don’t see a crash or anything coming but it is going to be interesting. I just can’t also understand Disney raising direct rates. While I think most buyers in the parks have no idea resale exists, if the gap widens, it is harder to justify direct.

if the gap widens, it is harder to justify direct. When we bought (used) there was a pretty good gap, I don't remember what but it was around 2014 and we got OKW for $70. A couple years later we got more for like $77. Last few years, used prices went up up up and Disney made some new restrictions, and lots of people here were making the case that with the ease of buying direct, along with your choice of UY and other things, you might as well buy direct. Interesting to see it coming back around. We have mostly enough points right now and I don't really relish paying more maintenance fees, but if OKW gets down enough I'm sure my wife will instruct me to find us another hundred or two.
