Hi, everyone....I'm Dani, DVC since 2006 when my then-in-college DS "bribed me" into buying in (I was scared of timeshares, but have always loved Disney) by promising he'd go w/me at least once per year for as long as he could (and he's mostly kept that promise--there's been a year here or there when work wouldn't let him get away, but he's almost as addicted to Disney as I am)--he's now married and we've successfully addicted my DIL, too; and has the world's most wonderful 18-month-old baby boy who's going to Disney w/Nana (me), Mom & Dad next week! His first visit .... it's a huge understatement to say we're all very very excited....
I have a whole bunch of small contracts--682 points worth--biggest one is the buy-in SSR 150-pointer....most of my points are at SSR, but I have 3 small BCV contracts, too...I routinely borrow and rarely start a use year with more than a handful of current year points. Almost all my small add-on contracts were because I'd run out of points, even with borrowing, and I wanted to do another trip before I'd get more points...between the fact that the direct vs resale cost differential is way smaller, if it exists at all, when you're dealing with 50 or 60 or 70 points; and the fact that when it happens I want to book "now," I've never bought resale. Did I say we're addicted?
I'm a lawyer and am fortunate to be able to work from wherever I happen to be, most of the time....that lets me do 3-4 Disney trips/year....sometimes w/friends, sometimes w/family, very occasionally (twice to be precise) solo (I've scheduled numerous solo trips but inevitably someone pops up who'd like to come along)....I do work at Disney, but it rarely interferes w/my Disney plans....I just sneak off to someplace quiet if I have to do a call, and I do my writing from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. or so...it mostly works well. I'm an AP holder and grateful to still be able to renew....I get scared when renewal time starts to approach that Disney will take away APs from current AP holders as they've done for new AP buyers. I am grateful that park-hopping is back, so grateful that I'm just now noticing how annoying it is to not be able to hop until after 2....I like some of the "new WDW," and dislike some, too....pretty much like all of us...
I have two dogs who are my "babies," and who love their "dog nanny" who stays w/them when I'm gone....I have an "almost daughter" (who I generally refer to as my DD) who's also a Disney addict....we've formed the habit of doing mother-daughter trips over the last couple of years...I'm single (divorced when my DS, now 35, was just a year old)...so don't need to accommodate another adult who may not share my love of Disney....lots of very good friends and a full, rich life. I'm well past "normal retirement age," but still working because I still love my work, have all the flexibility I could possibly want, and I REALLY like getting paid!
I have a love-hate relationship w/technology....on some levels I'm submoronic; on others I do just fine. I totally resent the current emphasis on using a cell phone .... maybe I'll come around, but so far I've managed w/out doing too much via cell phone rather than laptop/desktop....my biggest complaints are (1) the print is just too small for my "old eyes" and (2) running down the battery and (3) reading a cell phone message in the bright FL sunshine is just too hard...I just printed out my m'ship card (the one that expires in 30 days) for our trip next week. I categorically REFUSE to use a "wallet" (whatever the blank that is) or put my DVC m'ship on my cell phone. Similarly, perhaps cutting off my nose to spite my face, I categorically refuse to do genie+--I also resist mobile ordering for the same reason--too difficult/uncomfortable to do all that scrolling and squinting (while dodging crowds) in the parks....I guess that proves I'm as old as I am! But I comfort myself w/the notion that I can do the technology; I just choose not to. I'm a walker (I do five-mile hikes 4xweek), so the walking at Disney doesn't bother me at all. But yes I do get tired.
And that's probably more than you wanted to know.
I've noticed the fall-off at MO and it makes me sad....I still check in there every day (mostly) and try to post frequently (ever since Dirk posted about needing active members over there)...I'm very happy to find magicowners and hope this forum is more active than MO has become....let me know if I post too much (or too boringly)....
Happy Disney-ing to us all....Dani

Hi, Sue here, aka ggatorgirl. No, I didn't go to U of Fl as most people think. Gators were my high school mascot.
DH and I signed our first DVC contract late in 1991 and we became members in 1992. We were the first purchasers in Illinois! Our 2 daughters were in jr high/elem school and would go to WDW in August between the end of summer sports and before school started. We love Disney, having gone to DL for our honeymoon in 1971 and had been to WDW a few times with the girls before we bought.
Addonitis set in when our first grandson was about 2 and LOVED animals so a small AKL contract 'for' him. DH and I are F & W fans so of course we needed BCV for the short walk there. 2 more grandkids followed, so BLT was added on 'for' them for the convenience to MK.
We have made some truly dear friends through the MO board, taking great vacations with them on cruises, at WDW, and long weekends in hometowns.
Thanks to all who worked so hard for many years on the Mouseowners board. Many thanks to those who set this up. Here's hoping this is as successful!

Hi. I’m Cathy. Mom of 2 kids. DH and I had our first trip to WDW when DS was 2. The in-laws were taking the family and we decided to treat it like a trial run because there was no way DS was going to cooperate for a once in a lifetime trip. There was so much to learn, it was overwhelming. I picked out restaurants, my BIL scheduled fastpasses and my son was flipping out on day 2. He didn’t want to be inside any store or attraction. His grand parents took him to see the bug show at AK…. It’s a good thing this wasn’t our once in a lifetime trip! Haha. We planned OUR trip for our 10th anniversary. DD was 1, DS was 5, and we gave DS strict instructions. We were going to have fun. He could choose to, but we were having fun anyway. He had fun most of the time! We like staying in “suites”, and I wasn’t staying in a room decorated as the lion king, so we tried the cabins at fort wilderness. (Pop century where we were before was right out). We didn’t dislike the cabins, but we did dislike the walk - bus - 2nd bus or boat to get anywhere. We are not rent car people, we like the bubble. Funny thing, I needed a pen while at the park. I figured the dvc guy would have one. He asked how we liked the cabins, and sweetly said his family wanted to like them better too. Haha. We’ve clearly snowballed. We bought points. We love it. And I carry the ostentatious red Minnie lunch box and another Minnie bag to work.

Hey everyone- I have missed the mouse owners community so much! I got hit with an IP ban mid trip report and it took months, a move across town and change in WIFi service provider to find about the new boards….So glad to see everyone is safe and well.
I am Noreen, i am originally from NY, retired to TN and now considering heading to Florida full time for retirement, DS1 is in West Palm, and DS 2 is working out of Tampa soI am almost an empty nester at this point. We are a OKW family with a tendency to “sleep around” with our points. My world revolves around my 2 sons and my fiancé and our now geriatric pets BUT we may possibly be expanding as DS1 is planning the big ask! I got the call yesterday!
As much as I love DS1 & his +1… My knucklehead would like to do this in June at MK w/ both families in attendance! My response was HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING ABOUT THE 7mo MARK!
Y’all if there was ever a time a I needed mouse owners guidance this it it!

Hello everyone, I'm Keith and have been addicted to Disney for as long as I can remember. I have been married to the same wonderful woman for over 26 years and we have three kids (adults now) that have grown up in Disney. We also have two Grandsons. We went on our honeymoon during the Pepto Bismal Castle and just went back for the 50th anniversary (our 25th) in November of 21 during Thanksgiving . We brought the whole family and had a great time despite the huge crowds. Being a milestone trip, we went overboard with the activities. We look forward to planning some off-season trips in the future . We have been owners at SSR since 2006 and have never regretted our decision. I am glad to see this new forum and look forward to being a part of it.

Hi everyone! So happy to see this new site. My husband and I joined DVC in 2010 and I found Mouseowners shortly after. I don't post often but I check in several times a day. Yep...I'm hooked. My husband and I have a whole bunch of grandkids (14). We are a blended family with 7 kids between us. Nothing we love more than taking the kiddos to Disney. Our next trip is in March and then again in June. Trying to talk hubby into a fall trip. Thank you, Admins, for this site!!! Donna

Hello all, MO kiapghff here. Im married with 2 kids (13B&10G) and we live in Pittsburgh where I have been a firefighter for 24 years. I am a captain and my family nickname is Kia (WAY before the car) hence the username. I also was a nurse for 7 years. We originally bought SSR in 2007 but sold in '13 when we moved and had 2 mortgages at the time. We dont miss owning because we sed David's rentals and its always worked out. We used to go every 2 years but the way I feel about the direction WDW is going, we are going to see other parts of the world. Im sure we will be back and who knows maybe own again one day. Im glad this site is up, I was on religiously with MO,. (got me through alot of hospital night shifts). Thanks Helena (and others) for getting this up and running

Doug here, I decided to keep Doug Disney because it was my MO name. Not creative though.
Married with DS9 and DD7. Owners since 2014 at SSR, 2015 BLT and 2016 BCV. Lucked out buying before prices really went up and still got blue card benefits with resale. Living in Pennsylvania but originally grew up in New York.
My kids are both adopted from China which gave opportunities to visit all of the Asia Disney parks. Also was able to go to Disneyland Paris once.
Still need to make it to Aulani, Hlton Head and Vero at some point!
Oh and Mr. Toad was my favorite WDW ride of childhood!

I’m Nicky and live in Edinburgh, Scotland. Married now for 31 years with two adult sons, eldest has flown the nest and the youngest still lives with us.
We bought into DVC back in 2011 on our first stay onsite when eldest whined incessantly about taking the tour. It took DH and I about 30 minutes to take the plunge. Unlike the vast majority of MOs we can’t go very often, but we just took a trip over Christmas and New Year for youngest’s belated 21st, delayed 2 years due to some kinda global crisis I’d like to forget. There were times I honestly wondered if we’d ever get to go back.
Found MO when planning a trip in 2016. I hope we can continue that community spirit over here, and it’s great to see so many familiar names already.

Hi, Still jedimom3. So thankful for these forums. Probably spend way too much time on them, but they make smile, and love to read about and share all of our Disney (and other) info and tales. Visited WDW once in the 70s, twice in the 80s (1 quick 1 day MK trip, and then when my mom won a free trip from a radio contest, to experience the brand new EPCOT park.) then no visits until my soon to be husband, older son, and I went in 2000 Stayed at Holiday Inn Maingate, 4 days WDW, 1 Universal. Loved both. Mainly used Fodor's and Frommer's books for info. Totally hooked since then. Bought DVC in 2011. DH did ALL the research, and glad he chose BWV. I'm originally from south Louisiana, moved to Baton Rouge for school/LSU, Geaux Tigers!, worked as a librarian for almost 12 years in the public library there, then moved to middle TN, near Nashville, for DH's job. Became a SAHM for a while. DH is federal, while looking for job for me, saw a posting for a temp job at a call center in Franklin. I took it ,and have been working as a seasonal customer service rep w THE govt agency that NOBODY ever wants to call. I love my escapes and breaks to Orlando. older son lives in Houston, DD is a freshman in college in Chattanooga, hopes of doing the Disney College program, and younger DS is at home, high school. He's over Disney, etc. LOVES thrill rides , but wants more travel out West, outdoor stuff, etc. DH and I still dream of going to England, European River Cruises. Otherwise, I am a HUGE Star Wars fanatic since 1977. DH is too.My Christmas this year included a new lightsaber, because 5 is not enough. Love TV and movies. Love travel, Disney, and Star Wars youtube videos, and lots of other time wasting activities. 4 cats and a dog also at home. Favorite Disney attractions include Haunted Mansion, Splash, Guardians,Soarin, Fop, EE, TSMM, and all of Galaxy's Edge (wish it was a LOT more) also love ALL the HP stuff at Universal, and Velocicoaster, MiB, Spiderman, and Mummy. Thanks again for keeping this forum group going!!

Hi all, it's Beth! Been on MO since 2013. Our Disney experience began when we went last minute at the request of friends who just came back from Disney with Make a Wish for their Son, who kept saying during the trip, I wish Matthew and Joey were here to see this. So we had no clue about Disney at all. At the recommendation of a coworker, we got a reservation at Caribbean Beach Resort, requesting to be near the food court as youngest Son had just got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. A couple of days before arriving, we got a call from Disney who said the food court would be under construction so they would like to move us to Animal Kingdom Lodge. The silly thing about this was I said OK, with no emotions whatsoever as I had no clue what that meant. Just figured staying at a different location. Welp, let me tell you.....hook, line and sinker! Our friend's Son is now okay, our Son has accepted his life will always be different than others and after my hubby said "this is not getting out of your system, is it?" when I booked another trip, and another, and another, we (I) became true Disneyaholics. So, one day when I was pouting that I missed Disney, we drove to Woodfield Mall in Illinois to visit Doorway to Dreams (Disney's storefront with mocked up DVC rooms) just to feel a little bit of Disney pixie dust. You guessed it, we bought BLT right then and there, so we have been a member since 2009.
Disney and Mouseowners have gotten me through some pretty tough times over the years, and I'm ecstatic that it will continue on with our new home here. I've made a lot of friends and love to be able to continue on with conversations and adventures with them.

Hi! Rigby here. Glenn is my real name. Kept the same user name. Rigby was my dog who we had to give away when my son was 2 because he developed allergies. It was pretty traumatic, but we just got a kitten on the 1st of the new year so we’re all over the moon here playing with this little guy. We called him Mochi after the cat in Baymax. I’m a huge Disney freak and I’ve been going my whole life since my grandparents lived in Kissimmee when I was a little kid growing up in NY. We live just outside of Denver now. And once my son was born friends put us up with their AK points and we were hooked on DVC. We have 215 VGF points. We go at least once a year and almost always take friends and put them up for free. It’s been one of the greatest things to come into our lives! Been checking out the former site almost every day since that purchase and very happy that there’s a new site. Thank you for taking the time to put this all together!

I am Kim. We moved to Florida in Jan 2021 from Iowa. I’m a retired teacher and Bill works from home, approved forever which is awesome. If it isn’t, he’ll retire. We are not going back to winter. For once our timing was perfect on selling, buying and moving. When Bill was given permission to work remote, we moved in about 6 weeks after living in the same house for 35 years. See ya!
We bought DVC in 2007 and I found the first MO shortly after that. We own at AKV and have equal points for our two kids to take over when we are done with DVC.
I’m so happy the new MO is open. I recently changed my email address and thought I was locked out of the old site. It was late and I really wasn’t, but it wasn’t a happy feeling.
We live about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Disney now. I’m trying not to kill DH with Disney now that we live here full time. I’m also trying to hang on for dear life with all the changes that have happened to Disney through the shut down and reopening. So far, so good. My hobby is Disney and Bill’s is eating & lifting so it seems to be a good match.
I have always found the MO community very helpful and I am glad it will live on now.
