Glad to see the MO community continue! It was great to meet many MOs on Oct 1st, 2021 during 50th meet-up!
Rich from MD here (same screen name). Married almost 17 years. Officially have a DD teenager as of today. Found MO when we first started exploring DVC in 2015. My day job is in the events/tradeshow space for associations (on the software side of things). COVID stunk for anyone the events business so I feel like to have kept my job. Anyhow…
Our Disney story started when our DD had a day care teacher who loved Disney. My daughter quickly started watching the animated Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and like many young girls fell in love with Minnie and quickly Goofy. Her love of Goofy still exists today (which makes me happy). My DW and I was like, she loves Disney, who knows how long this will last so lets take her. She fell in love and we fell in love with her being so happy. We planned another trip and quickly realized we could see ourselves going more. APs seemed like a bargain at I think $350 bucks. APs, work travel to Orlando along with hotel points and free flights (I traveled a good bit for work) Disney became regular thing, typically visiting 2-4 times a year.
My MIL wanted to treat us to a family trip. Given she would need a scooter, we found BLT, BWV/BCV as some of our best options for her. BLT won out since MK was my DD’s favorite park. We had a 1BR and we were hooked. We purchased (resale) only a few months after. My DW was the one who actually pursued DVC. Like others, we quickly added more and purchased a direct contract for the first time recently.
We have had the good fortune to stay at all but Vero beach offsite and most of the WDW properties. We had hoped Aulani would be one and done in 2017 but just celebrated Christmas at Aulani this year before heading to Australia and New Zealand. We have tried to do more non-Disney stuff lately and have always enjoyed visiting the national parks. Part of that is lack of points and part is my DW. I tend to get to Disney and despite all the times we have been want to rope drop, go park commando and do four parks in a day.
So that is about us!

Hi All. Found this site when I recently went to MouseOwners. So glad to see that the wonderful knowledge shared on the previous site continues here. We first purchased OKW in 1992 and have added on at BC, BLT and VGF. Living in the NH Seacoast area makes it hard for short trips to WDW - pre-pandemic we would go 2x a year, and were AP holders. Post pandemic due to all the changes we're down to one annual trip. Hopeful some of the "old Disney" returns soon, or we find a way to embrace the new Disney business model . Our trips pre-pandemic were focused more on time in the parks and a few hours relaxing at the resorts. Next trip planned in Nov will have limited park time (no AP, the loss of Fastpass+, limited live entertainment are the key reasons) for the first time! I enjoy reading the threads where you all share your resort only trip experiences - these have given me hope that we'll enjoy using our DVC points with limited park access.

Sad to search for MO and see it gone 😟. We have beautiful memories together. Glad to continue on here, as soon as I familiarize myself with this site.

Hello, Mari here in Philly. I was mostly a lurker and a very occasional poster on MO, but I read the boards frequently and found so much useful information. I thought I should introduce myself here and try to post a little more.
My family (me, DH, DS5) have owned DVC for a little over 5 years now, home resorts are CCV and RIV. We have family living near Disney and enjoy going 2-3 times a year for vacation and to visit with them. We have relatives who bought DVC 20+ years ago, so we were familiar with it before we bought, and we stayed on their points a few times before making a purchase of our own. We are looking forward to our next stay at RIV later this spring. We mostly stay at our home resorts because we love them, but we’ve also stayed at BWV, AKV, SSR, and GFV over the years.
Thanks for setting up this new site as a place to learn and connect!

Personally, I don't remember how often I've ever spent much time sharing in a trip report, how much fun we have in our resort time.... We have done a few trips, specifically before a DCL cruise, spending fun times at our resort, and not going to the parks at all. This behavior has continued post shutdown. Look for actual reporting of aforementioned fun in my future trip reports.

Hey all- bit slow to the party, but happy to see the group evolves and lives on. Mouseowners and everyone who helped make it what it was will always hold a near and dear place in our hearts. For all the help and learning we did there as new owners, and the community it setup.
DW, me, and cornbread (DS 8) call Boardwalk home (love all the walkable options) and are surprised but happy converts to loving Copper Creek as well. Cornbread loved Haunted Mansion so much as a 2.5 yr old, that it's our most visited ride and we've enjoyed meeting so many of the cast members who work there.
Looking forward to the new site!

Hi Everyone, Not sure I was ever a fixture on MO, but I learned (and lurked) from 2007 onwards. I'll be 72 next month and I retired 6 years ago from a career as an IP professional. Married for 48 years, three married kids and grandchild #6 due end of this month. Many of our trips since joining DVC have been 10, 12, 13 of us in either 3BR or TWO 2BRs at BWV. I'll be down in Sept with son, DIL and two youngest grandkids; first visit to BLT! Live in NJ all my life. I genuinely appreciate the great people who were responsible for MO, and also for THIS site. Ted

Hi everyone! I was robinb over on Mouse Owners and am robinb here too. My husband and I are in our early 60's. My DH still works but he is getting very close to retiring. I have a BS in Computer Sciences, but "retired" for the most part when my DD was born. Our daughter grew up going to WDW multiple times a year. She's now 23 and is taking a "gap period" after graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 2021 with a BS in Rehabilitation Psychology. Her plan is to attend graduate school and study Occupational Therapy or Dance and Movement Therapy in a couple of years. In the meantime, she's a ski instructor at a local ski hill and she's getting her certification to teach adaptive skiing. She loves it and it will look great on her graduate school application. We have been DVC owners since 1997. We came back from our first WDW trip and immediately bought 260 points at OKW on the resale market. Those points came grandfathered in with free park passes through 1999 for the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and MGM Studios. We didn't go to AK until 2000, lol. We started going to WDW for New Year's Eve shortly after we bought and we were there for NYE 1999/2000 We loved staying at Boardwalk. Back in the day, you would have to join a special list for NYE at BWV (which was NOT fair for BWV owners) and we were able to get those precious reservations easily. Then, DVC cancelled that benefit, so we bought 200 points at BWV on the resale market so we could continue to go over NYE. We happily enjoyed OKW and BWV and somehow 460 points were not enough so we booked regular hotel stays too along the way. We were supposed to stay at POFQ shortly after 9/11 and we were "walked" to AKL in a standard view. They upgraded us to a savannah view and that turned out to be very expensive "pixie dust". We loved it and vowed to buy there when it opened up. We sold out OKW for a profit and rolled that money into two 50 point contracts at AKV direct from Disney. Yes, we had some money left over . Now we own 200 points at BWV and 100 points at AKV and we're OK with 300 points. We use our AKV points for Club Level and Value Studios as often as possible and our BWV points for Standard View and Boardwalk Views.

My real name is Rae but will answer to anything. We live in Central IL and always drive. The name bubster comes from when the middle daughter had a bad cold, when she tried calling mom it came out bub. The name stuck and everyone, kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews call me Bubby or Bub. My 3 daughters refer to me as the Bub Hub. Our first trip to WDW was in January 1975, oldest DD turned 5 on that trip, eek!! You do the math. Fort Wilderness was our first on property experience. Bought DVC in late 2009. We have 630 points over 4 contracts at 3 resorts, roughly half at BLT, the other half split between BCV and SSR. Just so happy that this community has been able to continue, MO was unique, the new Magicowners is a blessing.
