I prefer a really dark room when sleeping, but I do love the lake view at BWV. I can never get the two sides of the curtains to stay together, so now I'm wondering if packing a large chip bag clip would solve the problem. No need to pack a chip clip. Use one of the hangers with clips from the closet in the room. Works great!

Disney's shades often stink at keeping all light out. The "bead chain" roman blinds or whatever they are called at OKW do a poor job, that's for sure. They are too far away from the doors. And ever since we made the one-way transition into 1bd rooms, the GFCI breakers in the bathrooms have those built-in LED nightlights. So I go around and pop the offending outlets. Sometimes housekeeping resets the outlet for me, and I get into bed and realize what's been done and I have to go back over there and "pop". And I have to keep the bathroom door closed (studio or one-bedroom) because there's this frosted window as big as a tv that glows all night from the lights outside the front door. Now this time, I got myself a real nice sleep mask. I can put that baby on and it's pitch black, your eyes don't touch it so you can open your eyes and look all around and nothing. Love it. It tends to bother my ears, though, so I mostly only put it on in the morning. Or if I'm having trouble sleeping it can help convince my brain it's sleepy-time. Yeah sleep masks often aren't comfortable so I don't use them. I do bring a beaded pillow with weight that covers my eyes but that doesn't always stay but at least is more comfortable. I do cover up as many LEDs as I can.

As far as chip clips go, every year I think to myself, "why don't I ever pack a chip clip" for actually clipping a bag of chips. But I make do with rolling the bag and propping it so it won't unroll. Someday I will make a permanent "chip clip" in my suitcase...I already have a real kitchen knife, and this year I bought a real spatula at Publix down there. I'm not real fond of some of the kitchenware that is in the rooms. I bought kitchen scissors, too, and I might get a "turner" like for fried eggs. Yeah there's one in the room but I don't really like it, but it works. I used to bring a tiny cutting board, but now that we stay in 1-bedrooms instead of studios the room comes with a cutting board. I used to bring two plastic bowls and two plastic plates, too, so we didn't have to use the paper plates, and also two real spoons and forks and a butter knife. See, staying in a one-bedroom has made my suitcase lighter!

How do you get all the sharpe stuff - knives and scissors - thru TSA - checked luggage? Yeah checked bags. We end up taking multiple checked bags so not a problem. The kitchen knife I picked out a few years back just for vacation has one of those plastic things you slide the blade into, and the whole thing is a fun blue. The kitchen scissors have a plastic thing, too. Those things and the spatula I just got live in the suitcase: when we get home and I unpack, they stay in the suitcases and go up in the attic. I also have a leatherman I bring because it seems like I'm always wanting a pliers or screwdrivers or a knife or something. That has to go checked bags, too.

We check bags for longer trips where we'll do more extensive cooking and then include liquids. The places we go have sufficient sharps for us not to need to check anything. This is the same with WDW 1BR stays. They're typically 4 nights, and we do make breakfast, but no need to check a bag as we can get what we need easily at the grocery store.
I used to carry a corkscrew as this is (or, at least, was) legal in the US even with the small foil cutter. However, it is not legal in the UK and they nicked it. Since then, I don't bring one any longer.
Cheers.

For some reason, I found that including my wine opener in with liquids allows it thru TSA without question. My daughter and I traveled thru UK/France 2022 with the wine opener in with liquids no problem. She took it out of her makeup bag and immediately lost it on her next trip thru TSA.

Luck of the draw on the UK. According to their official site ( UK luggage restrictions), it is not allowed in hand luggage. Just bring one that you don't mind having nicked in future.
Cheers.
