My son mentioned this rumor to me about a week ago. For us, by the time we figure out and get comfortable with "new changes", they change it up again. We did not mind reserving our 3 Fastpasses in advance. Let's see now if and when it happens/starts.
i been so busy between work, grandkids and setting up my Halloween Haunt, that I have not been updating much.

This confirms that I didn’t dream about this change. Some will like it, some will not. I just hope they don’t roll out the reserve time at midnight like it was when FP+ first started.
We’ve only paid for Genie+ on our family trip in September and when we go for a day or two, we don’t purchase it. I think Locals/Off site could look at the app and see what’s available before they purchase it…I think. I don’t use it enough to know. Maybe thru the tip board? Off site people could really be unhappy, but I guess that’s the point of doing the pre registering for rides. Until the virtual queues for Tron and GotG are gone, this wouldn’t save us much sleep time since we were up before 7 am for that. I like the VQ for these two rides though and hope they don’t go away anytime soon.

Interesting...I've yet to pay for Genie+ (have used ILL once or twice), but I have said since the change from FP+ that I might be interested in paying for Genie if I knew I could be guaranteed three rides of my choice. So this sounds like that might be what is happening...we shall see.

We did not mind reserving our 3 Fastpasses in advance. Let's see now if and when it happens/starts. That’s happened to me every time, the downside of infrequent visits. However for each visit I’ve been able to read up on the new system and make sure I understand the nuances of it, which is the upside of infrequent visits I guess! As to when, if I was to put a bet on it I’d go with Jan 9th, when the park reservations go away for date based tickets. They would then have a way to know which park at least some of those guests will be visiting each day.

This was the change I was waiting for to make this useful. Now we'll see how well it works. And how much they charge.
Cheers.

I agree - never have used Genie+ or LL as I do not want to be doing this in the morning on vacation. I liked the advance FP+ for that reason. I do object to paying for this now, but as others have said, we saw this coming. On top of everything else, not sure if I will want to pay for it.

Are you saying you are letting "life" get in the way of your Disney duties? My son listens to a bunch of different podcasts - on his way to and from work, etc. He is always telling me about some rumor before I read it on any of the forums Hope all is well you you and the family.

Also it commits people to pay for Genie+ if they want to prebook their rides. Which many will do for fear of missing out. And Disney can make it length of stay only, like the dining plan .
I was feeling good and then you had to go and ruin it!

We've done both paid types but not regularly. Dear Disney please stop making life complicated. Please & thanks!
That's all I'll say about that

OK, who volunteers to tutor me if and when this does happen? This old dog is tired of learning new tricks.

If the change means I don't have to get up at the equivalent of 4 am to my body (7 am Eastern time=4 am West Coast time) every morning during our trip to make Genie+ selections for each day I'm all for booking in advance. THIS! Either way it is planning in advance. I'd rather not do it every day at 7AM ET.
