I think I knew I was in the minority here! It’s bad enough to have to know where you want to eat that far out. I only plan because my spouse demands knowing what the plan is. I think we’re so successful because I think a plan is meant to be changed

I think I knew I was in the minority here! It’s bad enough to have to know where you want to eat that far out. I agree with you on this. We make, at most, one ADR, and we make that close in. We just don't plan our eating that far out and wing it. Parks and rides, though, are easy for us to plan. Since all aprks have early morning hours, we look for the evening events. If none of those, any park on any day is fine, so we just make a plan. No reason to do last-minute changing. Now we can plan the rides too.
Cheers.

If the change means I don't have to get up at the equivalent of 4 am to my body (7 am Eastern time=4 am West Coast time) every morning during our trip to make Genie+ selections for each day I'm all for booking in advance. While I loathe booking in advance too much, I agree the 7am thing is tough. Especially when the system is down. Ask me about my last day a few weeks ago There has got to be a good balance for this. I'm happier with 60 day booking for food. I hate 6 months out. But I'm still stuck doing park reservations too so I'm all kinds of grumpy still.

I think the new system could work much better than booking the morning of.
The difference between fast pass and Genie though is that every guest on Disney property is not going to have three reservations unless they pay for them. I would think that would give Non resort stay genie users still some options.

Disney Genie / Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane Changes are coming.....
The attraction reservation nightmare is about to get worse at Walt Disney World. While Disney has yet to talk about this publicly,WDW President Jeff Vahle shared the news with a group of 400 Travel Agency owners that the ability to make “pre-trip reservations” for attractions will be coming to Genie+.
Walt Disney World didn’t learn from their mistakes the last time, when they turned FastPass+ into a living nightmare for all other guests by allowing WDW resort guests to pre-book three attraction FastPass+ reservations each day up to 60 days in advance of their trip. If you don’t remember how that worked out the last time, essentially imagine walking into the Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning and now PAYING for Genie+ (rather than the free FastPass+ program), only to discover that you can’t get a Lightning Lane pass for anything you really want to ride until that evening because the resort guests already pre-booked everything two months prior.
Rules are not out for this new system yet. Based on how bad FastPass+ got towards the end, pre-trip reservations for Genie+ are only going to make your experience worse.
I don’t think that any reservation of any kind (Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane, or Virtual Queue Boarding Groups) should be possible until a guest has entered the park.
This is gonna be such a disaster. The park experience is already bad.....everything is so rigid and hard planned for rides.
I totally agree with you. Reservations should not be possible until a guest has entered the park. This is a nightmare. They need to get rid of the pay for fast pass - at least Univdersal gives free FPs to their deluxe guests. We have AP's but barely use the park now. I purchased the genie plus and maybe it was me or maybe there is a learning curve - but i only got two rides one day, and one ride the other two days. After that we didn't bother. We are totally frustrated. If that had been my first expereince with disney we would never have gone back. We love DVC and the memories, but the hassle of the parks that disney has created has made it so we just want to relax at the resorts now.

And it helps to know in advance which rides disappear fastest. Which is also not conducive to rare/once-in-a-lifetime guests. We usually get 3, and we could get a 4th but my kids are done. So we don’t.

I think I knew I was in the minority here! It’s bad enough to have to know where you want to eat that far out. I only plan because my spouse demands knowing what the plan is. I think we’re so successful because I think a plan is meant to be changed When we started going as a couple I did a lot of nodding but never actually produced a schedule. So when I started to say, "Lets try here" he'd say, "When is our reservation" and I'd admit I didn't make one. After two days he finally caught on and wanted to know why I didn't tell him. Well, I just shrugged (very similar to nodding) because he's a high anxiety ranter until we accomplish the goal with a "that wasn't bad" or "that really worked out" ending. If we're around people I give him 'the look' and he know to zip it so he stops making an hind end of himself. Of course, now I've the reverse problem where he doesn't want to plan anything. Like I knew when I reserved TRON on the day we bused back from the cruise that he was gonna stress. So I told him on the bus just as we were pulling into our resort. He beat my ear until we were in line. Then he was all smiles because we made it. He just wants everything to work out and is anticipating nothing will work. I have to admit after years of planning family vacations it is nice to just flow. You'd think he'd know by now when I'm smiling, shrugging and nodding that I've no plan or I'm just hoping for the best. I do like the VQ's because we really only need one FP per park so G+ seems like such a waste for us or will force me into a 'getting my $ worth' situation.

So....will this mean if we pay for Genie+ in all parks then what? Three in one park then what happens..... ?

We love DVC and the memories, but the hassle of the parks that disney has created has made it so we just want to relax at the resorts now. We have had the same experience - twice bought G+, both times we only got 2 LL and no "good" ones. DW insists that we are gonna use G+ on the next trip, because last time we stood in line 1.5 hours for Peter Pan (which she thinks is a wasted ride). The posted time was about 30 mins when we got in line. That day, we rode 2 rides - the train, and Peter Pan. We bailed out of the line for Buzz because it was SO hot. We just left and went to the resort pool. Of course, by saying we are going to use G+, that means she wants me to book all the rides. I may insist she do it so she can see what a pain it is. Of course, if we can book LL in advance, it may be a totally different game. I'm hoping this is the case. I would totally have bought FP+ every day if we had that old system.

Why are we discussing this as if it will be similar to our memory of all the other changes we have endured ? Why would Disney put us thru all this for all these years , only to bring it back with a simple price tag ? Those days are gone … it will not be 3 automatic FP because of Genie and Lightin Lane and Park Pass differences and admission types are all part of the new equation that Disney is mashing together to make it profitable . It is not going to be that simple. We should be demanding Disney maintains the rides and operates them at an equitable capacity for the price tag they are charging and increasing . That is the discussion we should have Loud and Clear

And they might yet change direction. But Disney have said that advance booking is coming.

Correct as Tom , married to travel agent , with Disney alert to agencies for their customer information need to know but not really know…first reported I trust and thank Tom but you make it sound like you are also in the know . Please add your source and your location . And what does “Global Moderator” mean ? Thanks
I am just suggesting we discuss this with the current policies in mind Disney must factor into the new equation the Genie+ and the Lightnin Lane and the Park Passes in January 9, 2024 math
