Wasn’t thrilled with Harmonious, but couldn’t bring myself to the feelings of intense hatred held by many. Even with the barges, though of course glad they’re gone,
Illuminations was wonderful, but 20+ years is a damn long time.
Not sure how Disney wins this one, but here’s hoping Luminous is excellent. If not, time to make the Happily Ever After move and return to the known.

Extended my trip for a day to see the first show Tuesday night. I’m cautiously optimistic. I adored Rivers of Light and miss it a lot, so I’m looking forward to the original songs.

So this will be the third new nighttime show at Epcot in the last, what, five years? I wished they would've skipped two of them and added another ride or followed through with some of the original plans for new Epcot. And meanwhile AK is still without a nighttime show. Guess I'm just debbie downer today 😂 I'll be glad when Epcot is no longer under construction, which I think will be soon

Reportedly, the barges will be stored backstage during the day and brought out prior to showtime. That in itself can be an exciting little time. I remember one day when Illuminations was the show, we were lucky enough to be at the bridge when the Illuminations barges were coming out. I remember being so excited-"I've never seen the drawbridge up before!", and I took a bunch of pictures. For a Disney Geek, this can be a fun "show" in itself. However, let's hope that the fireworks show is more exciting than the barges coming out.

I'm going to do my best to do a Luminous blackout, avoiding all social media that posts video/photos, so I can see it with no preconceived thoughts in January.
I did that for Rise and really liked the experience of doing it without any idea what was going to happen.

I want to see it and experience live in person first. It makes for a better experience for me.

we are at BCV since last Tuesday. They have "tested" twice while we were here. We got "noise" warning message twice and a couple of folks got pics. Our room cannot see fireworks.
We are in Epcot on Tuesday Dec 5 so hoping it really is a GO for that night. we leave the next day.

Same here. I did read some very basic stuff, but no details for RotR, Gotg and Tron. Unfortunate for GotG as I may have avoided that unpleasant experience, but still my way to go.
Far less important for the for a fireworks show. I'll likely not read anything just because I don't really look for it, but avoiding is not important for something like this for me.
Cheers.

Well I hope it is something because the previous was a fail. Full disclosure. Illuminations had my heart. I saw it the premiere year, when my parents were alive and would travel with us. My kids now adults grew up with it. Yes, I went for the last night, knowing I would be in tears. As much as I loved illuminations, the follow up was horrible. The music, eh, the music to fireworks.cit just never happened. Never thought I would head to the entrance to get a Uber during Disney. Fireworks but I did. Was sad because we were one day short of our planned trip to see the new fireworks. But trip canceled…. The L3,5 etc in my back how many L’s does one have? Apparently mine suck. Add in set of sciatica. Yea, PT told me I would do more harm than good, so trip canceled. Yea.

Barges are in WS Lagoon right now and have been all week. Not sure they are towing them out daily. Still not as bad as the Stargate

Based on the behind the scenes video put out by Disney they will not be out on the lagoon full time, brought backstage at night after show/park close.

I know this might be controversial to say, but I wasn't really all that impressed with Illuminations. It felt like a full half of that show was just watching TV on a ball in the middle of the lake. No thanks. (Have similar reservations with Fantasmic and the over-reliance of projections on its water screens.) More lasers and gas bombs and fireworks please! Harmonius did indeed have some horrible looking barges, and was also rife with projection or LED screen stuff, but for some reason I liked it a little more than most people. Looking forward to Luminous though!
