I know this might be controversial to say, but I wasn't really all that impressed with Illuminations. It felt like a full half of that show was just watching TV on a ball in the middle of the lake. No thanks. (Have similar reservations with Fantasmic and the over-reliance of projections on its water screens.) More lasers and gas bombs and fireworks please! Harmonius did indeed have some horrible looking barges, and was also rife with projection or LED screen stuff, but for some reason I liked it a little more than most people. Looking forward to Luminous though! This made me laugh about Illuminations. I miss the gas torches around the lagoon during Illuminations.

I'm glad I stayed away from Epcot long enough to miss the Harmonious barges and all the construction too. We are heading back in a few weeks after a four year hiatus.

I didn't find the barges as hideous during the day as some. The show, OTOH, was a one-and-done. It was just not interesting. If they can remove the barges and make a good show, that'll be a winner for all.
Cheers.

It looks like they do pull out little small islands on barges to surround the big barge in the middle. So if I had to guess the big barge in the middle is going to stay, but they will be pulling in and out the small little island like barges

The barges are supposed to go back at night. Will be interesting to hear tomorrow though.

I think the small ones will. The big ones are permanent me thinks. Again, no, not per reports. They had engines on board. We shall see what really happens.

Looking forward to Luminous though! I was watching a live stream last night and they were talking about Illuminations when it first started. They have video of the original show and there was more to it in the very beginning. Disney cut back on some of the pyro from the beginning. I’m sure due to cost. The new area looks really great at night. It looked great during the day, but at night it looked really beautiful with all the lighting that matches the Spaceship Earth show. I didn’t watch the fireworks, but will see them Friday. I’m hoping the reviews today aren’t dreadful.

Maybe the video of illuminations was with the Christmas overlay, I believed that added several minutes to the show. We probably won't get over there for a couple of weeks but I hated Harmonious so I am looking forward to the new one. Our daughter was let into the new area pre-opening and I know she was impressed.

Seems to be viewable from anywhere around World Showcase. SSE did get in on the action near the end though so maybe from the America side is better? Viewing from anywhere is a plus.

I watched last night. Beginning and end were strong. Middle was meh musically to me. I dislike narrations and IP (disliked Wishes because if that *gasp* I know) but really don't like when IPs have little to do with the park we're in. This won't be one we'll rush to see. Maybe summer when staying at BWV. Better than Harmonious. Curious if they lied about the barges again though.

I do not use a pic site that allows me to post on this board or I would post pictures. I do not think the big ones will fit through the lift bridge. I could be wrong but they are large..just not tall. They do not bother site lines like the Stargate did.
