A map to do overlays and included Star Tours. More as an FYI. One of the rumors states that WDI has weeks to decide... except they aren't the ones who do apparently. Different sources say different things for sure so we'll see what they do, but definitely not all agree about where the scale is tipping across many sites. I do not have a vote, but this is my choice.........
Good bye Animators courtyard!

I agree with part of it. I do think that the signs are on the wall for this. But I'm not heartbroken over this. I'd be OK with these changes even though I do like Rovers of America. If it stays, great. If it gets replaced with something new, I'll enjoy that. Slight preference to keeping it (we do like the riverboat periodically), but not a big deal to me if it is replaced.
Cheers.

While we rarely ride the riverboat, the water feature is very serene and adds to the ambiance of MK. I agree with the author that it's a piece of MK that is iconic and part of Walt's vision. Why not update Speedway with a cars ride if they want IP. Everything is IP and they forget that Rivers of America and TSI is in itself IP.

I don't even mind if they took TSI and made it smaller or the like. But to gut the whole thing? Totally not okay in my book. There are so few quiet respite areas in MK and this was a major one. It's not even slight or small preference, this really ticks me off more than anything else they have done. I'm spending less and less time in MK and this might do me in as I'd use this area often for quiet relaxation.

Personally, I would like the river and island to remain. Its one of those defining features that make Magic Kingdom what it is. The train is another example. Its not needed but its iconic to what makes Magic Kingdom special.

I feel like Disney is always in a no-win situation. If they don't build, they are stagnant and not worth the price. If they do build, then people are upset they have to deal with construction or what the outcome was. If they raise prices, it's price gouging. If they don't raise prices, it's too crowded. I've never quite understood why Universal (or any of the other them parks) doesn't get the same criticisms. While the Rivers of America are nostalgic, how many people really go to Tom Sawyer's Island? Is it nostalgic, sure. But then isn't everything that was originally built nostalgic? That doesn't mean it isn't time for change. Remember how many people were upset about putting the Frozen ride in Norway? It was considered sacrilegious by some. Yet, it is one of the most popular rides in Epcot. I wonder what percentage of fan are really "furious?" Or, how many are just merely disappointed? Better yet, how many don't care or don't even know. Is this a mistake? Perhaps. But once the rides are done, Disney can advertise the heck out of their new rides. Rides that will appeal to the youth. And for those who are "furious," I predict they will still go. After all, they won't want to miss the Villains' Land.

The bigger issues are that current Disney management continues to replace instead of add. Walt's point of Florida Project is that they have a ton more room to build. Meanwhile, DL expands in their geographically tight area. Build it behind BTMR and reroute Florida Way. It's not like they haven't moved roads at TTC before or redoing the road in front of Poly for the new Poly 2.

Also, why not put Carsland in DHS with Pixar themed areas since they are adding Monster's Inc there? It would be more cohesive instead of slapping IP into things without thematic planning.

It's not like they haven't moved roads at TTC before or redoing the road in front of Poly for the new Poly 2. Expanding the footprint is likely to be quite a bit more expensive than replacing. That results in, you guessed it, higher ticket and other costs. Then, of course, people whine (here and elsewhere) that they're greedy price gougers. Yup, as baymaxfan put it well, there's no winning here.
As for why Universal doesn't get the same criticism, it's likely because people just don't care as much about them as Disney. Disney is the theme part. Universal is an also-ran. One with a few very good properties, but definitely second fiddle.
As alluded to in another article I posted, and detailed Universal Performance, their performance is sucking wind this year just like Disney. They're just not iconic, so people notice/care less.
Cheers.

As I said, preference is for it to remain but, to me, it doesn't rise to the level of outrage expressed in the linked article. Preference, but not mandate for me.

While I would agree that Carsland IP would better fit HS, the concept of keeping things where they fit best ended a while ago. I also do not think parks can be expanded beyond a certain point. There are (holiday) capacity issues at MK as it is. Villains' Land is an expansion. If they keep expanding without removing, how will you deal with the flow of people (especially around parades and fireworks and park exit after fireworks) through the cramped Main Street? It is already a problem. I guess my question is would you everyone had preferred no future plans or what they proposed? Of course, we can cherry pick every decision/idea. Personally, I'll take everything they announced over nothing, even if they means losing some things.
