Time for a rant... I hope this gets up and working smoothly soon. I absolutely detest the FB groups method. The board is open for posts... feel free to use! I went to the available points to rent, and applegroug's post is not opening correctly to show the details. Just FYI.

I do think people need to register and log in before they are able to view the RTB. First post to MagicOwners. Hopefully I'm replying to the correct thread... I like the idea of requiring a login to post, but feel it would be helpful to at least allow non-members to be able to view RTB without a login. Do you want newer/inexperienced folks to find the RTB, or just have established users? Both options are valid, just wondering. Without view access, how will anyone new know there are points available to be rented? Mouseowners was rather large and established. I believe a google search is what led me to Mouseowners initially as a renter, I think I got points at BLT @ $12pp. Then MO was a valuable resource in the eventual purchase and usage of the points.

Valid point. Registered to post. Guests to view can be done.

That’s an excellent point. helenabear beat me to it. Yes, I think we do want guests to be able to see that there is an RTB. And welcome to MagicOwners!

One reason to log in first is to monitor spam. When new users create an account, that is where it will be caught. At some point users will have to create an account to contact the owner of the points for rent. So what difference does it make whether they create an account upfront or later?

Because if a guest doesn’t see the RTB they won’t know about it, so will continue to lurk as a guest. If they can read the RTB and see what people are offering or requesting they may be more likely to actually register in order to respond.

I toured the Spam factory, about 45 minute's drive from here, they had it for only $4 per can in their gift shop! I got three different spicy flavors. I appear in the minority, but I prefer it "raw" out the can...most like it "fried" but I find it crazy salty at that point. They also have a festival every year, complete with food vendors and live music etc. I saw Bill Nye the Science Guy there!

With the RTB beginning to happen, I now see those posts as new posts. This is different than the old MO, where that was a different board - I rarely used RTB and so didn't see those posts. So when I did see those posts, it was often the beginning of a roast.
I'm not saying that anything needs to change here with this new setup, I'm just saying...I'll be ignoring RTB posts for the most part, so if a roast begins, please let me know - they are often very amusing!

Possibly just me, but maybe not: I just noticed the "Announcement" at the top of the page, and I assume it's been up there for several days. It apparently didn't grab my attention. Not just you. I only noticed it today.

Dear lord there is one FB in particular that I swear you can't post anything without getting in trouble with the mods. And it is ticky tack things...
Can only bump once every 24 hrs. I go days at a time, do it one one morning, then the next morning it is only 23 hours....in trouble.
Someone looking for a particular reservation...I say, hey that guy has it. Nope, that is hijacking or spamming or something. WTF? It has 50,000 members, but how anyone can find anything is beyond me.
