I apologize if this has already been discussed. My DVC rep called me a few weeks ago with a promo on adding on to my existing Polynesian contracts. I mentioned being excited to see the new DVC buildings completed as we are a family of 6 and prefer a 2 bedroom layout that other resorts like BLT and BWV, etc have instead of 2 adjoining studios (and I can't justify or reasonably afford the Bungalows with our 410 points).
The rep told me it was possible and maybe even likely that the new addition will be considered a completely separate DVC resort and that my existing Poly points would not count it as a home resort if that is the case. Does anyone else know anything about this? If so I will be very disappointed. Would love to hear if there is more info out there. Thanks!

You will find people on both sides of the question, both in terms of what will happen and what should happen. And many more sitting squarely on the fence!

We do not know. All I was told was that when announced it was an expansion of PVB as in adding to it. Even if that was true they can change minds. Lots of reasons to do it like AKL, SSR and VGF. Some to make it like CCV and BRV. CYA is wise for guides selling right now. They do not know.
I am hopeful or I will be doing some selling. Bugging me not to look at resales though with prices but I am close to the number of points max I want.

I don’t really need more points for what we do, and I don’t really want to go through the process of selling what I have and buying into a new points pool. I would probably lose $100/point based on resale versus estimated cost of new direct for a new resort. Let’s hope they keep it all PVB and open up new PVB sales to fill the increased availability. Fingers crossed!!

So I have put in a few offers today on Poly 1. All I can say is this one reseller is a PIA and is now bantering that the resales prices are NOW going up, all of a sudden. They did say that there is no ROFR going on at the moment. I told them sorry, two days of annual pass sales do not make the resale prices go up.
There is a lot to think about with Ply2, but frankly if I can only stay at Poly1 I will be more than happy. On to the next offer…..

Fingers crossed!! One problem with adding to the existing association is the expiration year. I'm surprised they got away with the expansion at GF with buyers to be honest, but GF was also already a hot seller with not a lot of points availability. I'm considering getting points at the Poly expansion, but if they put it in the existing association they've made it an easy choice for me to pass on the whole thing as a direct buy for sure. No desire to pay a premium for a significantly shortened contract with extreme competition for a very limited set of the 1-bed and 2-bed suites, in an association with bungalows that nobody wants to burn points on. Disney would love to be able to get away with adding the new points to the existing association with it's relatively short ~42 years remaining, but they won't do it if they believe enough potential buyers think like I do and they'll have a huge mess offloading the points. Only time will tell where their mind is on this.

I tend to think it will be part of the original poly resort. I have been toying wiht the idea of poly resale because of this...

Only time will tell where their mind is on this. Don't forget when BCV was new they told it as a 2042 resort - and that was in 2002, thus only 40 years on that contract, and it sold out quickly. I think for simplicity sake, it is easier for them to have one expiration date. It puts poly within the 40 year span. Anything less than 40 years is a huge no, but within 40 it is manageable.

I have too many points already in PVB that I don't want to risk a resale but it is tempting....
42 years is long enough. They need to rebalance some studio points too eventually IMO.

After the announcement about the new Disneyland Tower having resale restrictions, I am guessing now that Poly 2 will be a separate association with resale restrictions too.
